My 66 F100

Post by landbruiser1 »

I bought it to turn into a street truck to take my boys to carshows, and cruise around on nice summer nights.

I bought this truck from the Father of one of my installers at work. It had been sitting in there driveway not running for 6 years and not on the street since early 2000.

Here is a pic the day I picked it up.

The specs.

newer rebuilt 390.
Holley 4barrel.
C6 auto coverted to floorshift.
Power steering.
Disc brakes.
9' rear.
Body is pretty rough, surface rust, but not that bad.

After getting it running and removing the cab lights.

The motor with new air cleaner, cap and rotor, points, plugs, wires and new coil.

My plan is to straighted the body and repaint flat red/white again, new rims with smaller tires and lower it a few inchs.

Got a little more work done on my ford. I first started sanding the new front fender and tailgate. and also scored some factory steel rims with bad tires, but got a set of used ones on the cheap.

Front fender.

one of the staightest original tailgates I have ever seen.

factory rims.

New tires. 220/75/15 with white walls.

Getting the tires mounted in a couple of days, also need to get the patch panel going on the roof to get rid of the leaky sunroof. Then all new body parts will go on and then the paint. also getting ready to remove some of the rear leaf springs to lower it, but kind of waiting for the tires to see first.

I too have one of those 2nd gas tanks filler holes to fill in. I have a smaller wheel on mine too, but I dont have PS...it sucks. the previous owner swapped it in. I hope to upgrade the steering soon.

Didnt get the time today to drop the ford, had a quick customer job show up and had to do that. I did get a chance to fix the tranny leak, it was a pain in the butt the motor and tranny came out of a car so the oil pan and tranny pan are right under crossmembers which made it a pain to drop without making a serious mess.

I did find out why the tranny leaks so bad, the P.O. didnt use any kind of gaket or sealer on the pan. needless to say now it dont leak...

I did get to go to the cruisin tonight, but lost the power steering belt on the way home, put the spare one on that I had behind the seat, and it decided to let go in the driveway. it was an old used belt probably from the 80's I found while cleaning the cab.

Headed to the parts store in the AM to get a new one and an overflow tank for the radiator.

Here are a couple of pics from tonight.
