fuel pumps for 292

Post by zman »

Did a search not much luck, so hopefully i can tap into y'all's knowledge here. The lines are clear and gas tank drained and have new gas. mechanical fuel pump failed, so i replaced it. i think i have a bad lobe because it did not work. I used an electric one i had laying around and It ran fine then it went out. i got a Autolite 2100
carb and don't want to blow a seal or anything. what is a good electric fuel pump and rating to use to where i want hurt nothing but It is reliable.

thanks,
Chris

Chris.
You want about 5-6 pounds of fuel pressure 7 max. Electric pumps need to be located close to the tank as they push, not pull. May be why your's failed. Look in Jegs or even go to someplace like Advance. They should all have electric pumps in the store. If you're worried, you can buy a small pressure regulator to put in front of the pump.

When I put the new pump on my 292 it didnt work. Finally figured out the line hookups on the new pump were oppisite of the original pump.
