Stock rare option.

Give Green Sales a call in Ohio they should have rebuild kits in stock.

I remember seeing one of those power setups 30 + years ago and wondering what would happen if one of the valves stuck.

What's really scary though is that I can remember something like that but last week is a blurred memory.

Interesting brakes on your truck. How does the non push rod shoe expand ?

Does the paperwork say Rotunda? or Autolite?.

Looks like a factory add on setup to me done at the dealers.....

The brakes operate off the bottom pivot. In Therum.....

The cyl pushes on side and forces the oppsite to go out also.

Fords Bright idea on all 63 F100s and some F250s

It won't be soon. I need to see how it is manual. If I add big wheels I may need to keep it. My 03 Cobra Rs wrecked my back on my Fairlane.

(PS u have a PM)

I can tell you from experience, you run wides on the front of a Slick and you want PS, lol. I had 235-60s on the front of my old 66 short with no PS and it was a bitch to steer at anything under about 20 MPH and it still had a stock size steering wheel. I will leave the 75s on the front of the Uni til it has PS, I have already taken the steering wheel down to 14", lol.

That was not power steering, it was called power assist. Was used on larger trucks up through the seventys. Very few problems with the control valves, did have to redo the power cylinder now and then cause they always ran in the center position and would wear a groove in the pushrod. I worked on them in company trucks up to about 1990.

Forgot to mention in my prior post, there was a little system and a big system, don't remember the break point though. The main disadvantages were very poor road feel, hoses hanging out in the breeze, and some small amount of limiting turning to the left, because the control valve stuck out further than the non power unit.

its also the same system that came off my 67 mustang, I wish I had one for my slick, the 67 didnt need it and headers would toast the lines but its easy to drive without it so I swapped my mustang dealer with a manual gear box. ( they have different gear ratios, on the mustangs) would be nice to have that for making tight turns in parking lots etc etc.

Shawn, I thought the systems for cars mounted the valve on the steering just above the steering box? This would be a clearance problem for Slicks unless you shortened the column sleeve.

Greg it actually was below the linkage ran right along side it, the exact same power steering ram you see in the picture above only it was basically right under drivers feet, gear box is above and in front of it

That's right. Mustangs from 1965-1973 had this style. Fairlanes, Torinos, Falcons, Montegos, Comets and Cyclones from 1964-1971 had this system. The power steering box was faster - less turns lock to lock.

I believe these systems are still being made and I think by the company that made these for Ford. Last I heard price was in the 900$ range. This could have been an aftermarket setup but may have been made by the same company that made Fords power steering. There were two NOS complet setups on Ebay a couple years ago, as these were a Ford ad on accesory, and seldom came from the factory.

You can get the kit now from CPP for about 900. Don't know if it's the same or not, just saw it in their on-line catalog sometime back. I don't feel it is really needed if steering is setup right and kept lubed, I am 68 YO and run 235X75X15 tires at 40 lb on mine.

Fred do you have the lil 6 cylinder in yours still? I think the extra 400 lbs of big block has made mine damn near impossible to maneuver in tight places like parking lots and such, I thought it would be fine to get around in, and can manage but could be made much more convenient when getting groceries lol
