I have one behind the roller cam 5.0 in my 64.
Take a look at my build thread - might be a little help.
Mad Max is your man on this though - did it behind the 300-6 in his 67.

I have no idea if a 5.0 T5 will work, but the F150's with the 300-I6 in the mid '90's had 5spds, so finding someone who has a donor truck to harvest the trans, bell, etc is likely going to be the easiest.........

It's called an M5OD, built for Ford by Mazda.
Found in F 150s & 250s from the late 80s to 94. Was behind 5.0s & 4.9s.
Be sure to install and new shifter seal if you use one - they tend to throw the fluid out there.
Shifter is pretty far forward on the gearbox - works well in these trucks because of that.
They use a hydraulic clutch that has one of those release bearing/slave cylinder combination parts.
You may as well get the master cylinder with it.

I have a Mazda 5 speed in my '66. 351W, same bell as a 300. Had to move the rear X member back a few inches, no biggie. The shifter comes through the same hole as the farmer four that was in the truck originally. And yeah, get the master cylinder when you strip the donor truck. I suggest a new slave/throwout bearing too, they are a bitch to change with the truck all together!
Weld a new arm on the stock clutch lever in the cab, so it points down instead of ahead as it does now. The master will be to the inside of the brake cylinder, which seems weird but it works.

i have a t-5 behind my 300 in my 67. Used the stock bellhousing, clutch and linkage. the shifter is close to the seat but not bad.

A T-5 is a common mod for early Mustangs.

The trick is to use the S10 tailshaft, it moves the shifter foreward a couple inches.

Easier to use an earlier one with a mechanical speedo, later one's had electrical. Don't remember the years.
