I agree with Grits!, thats neat!, pitty they didn`t do it before SS5........... :(

Back in the 70`s they grounded all DC-10`s, Australia didn`t have one so we grounded 3 x DC-3`s and a DC-1!, true story I think!.

It will be interesting to see how she holds up to some Missouri winds and twisters ! Which direction is the nose pointing ?

If its Northwest that wing will be making some serious lift soon ;)

i think it's about due west. almost directly across from it is a company called dsi systems. and the center piece of their complex is a restored roundhouse with some old railcar on the turntable.

We went down for the coffee tour, but the power was out in the building so the trip became a bust.....then we looked in back of the building! Holy Crap! How'd they get that plane back here? It's really cool to now understand why it was there. Thanks for posting it Ezer.

Thanks for posting that Chris. Showing my age a little here, but I had the pleasure to Pilot the Military version, a C-47, from Okinawa, Japan to Hong Kong, China in Late 1958. DC-3/C47 was the workhorse of the aviation community for a lot of years.

I have heard it argued that for duration, simplicity and over all use.. the c-47 is the best single design ever built...

I got roped into painting this one for a customer a few years back. The guy in the cherry picker with the 1 litre paint cup was me! I could take 2 cups each trip, when they were empty I had to come down and refill.

There is nothing that sounds like a DC3/ C47 flying overhead!
