With a relatively small quick-spooling turbo and low boost that could work really well. I wouldn't want to rev it too high with four main bearings though, lol.

From what I found, they windowed the block at 10-12 lbs of boost. I guess it sounded like angels singing though. No reason why a nice healthy 5 lbs couldn't work with the stock 8.1:1 comp ratio. It would totally have cool factor to it thats for sure. For the time being, I just want to get the Merc drivable and safe and about 6" lower. I still have visions of a BOSS 9 stroker with no inner fenders hiding below a rusty hood. We all can dream, can't we?

Mark: Many years ago, a fellow from Souther Alberta that I knew was telling me stories of an old ford pickup in/around Stettler that was either Boss 429 or 427 SOHC powered....been too long, don't remember all the details, but it also reminds me that Chrismans' Comet was purchased in Stettler & returned to the USA in the early eighties.....so I wonder if there is any chance of the truck having a SOHC out of the Comet in it?? Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm

Mark, back in the early 70's my partner and I built a 510 Datsun motor for a Lotus 23-B sports racer with a little Buick Turbo on it. The boost lag scared our driver to death because he couldn't figure out when all that power was going to kick in, and we were just learning about waste gate technology. When it got spooled up it was scary fast. As a result of our inexperience, the motor never really worked out, but Al still has it and when I go up to visit him we always drag it out, sit around with a couple of cold adult beverages and talk about what if.
And an intercooler? What's an intercooler?

Ok guys, since we have such a great network of folks all over the country, we need to come up with a logo for a shirt like "Slick Freight Lines" or something. Whaddaya think Dan, got any ideas for something like that? I even thought of putting it on the doors of my 65 flatbed. TR
