62 F100 4X4 Twin Turbo Charged 292 Y-block

Post by hutz_292 »

Hey everyone my name is Robi Hutzenbiler. I own a repair shop and live in Wilton ND. I am new to this site but I have been on y-blocksforever for a few years. I have a 1962 F100 4X4 that I have been working on for about 3 years now. The build started with a pure stock truck with 42,000 miles on it. I started by building the engine n/a. Built that with a stroker kit from Mummert. Bumped the compression up and started blowing head gaskets. Long story short we posted the heads and that took care of that problem. Then we updated the drive train with a kit from bendstons (hope i spelled it right) in MN and installed and E4OD and 1356 transfer case. We decided to run fuel injection and turbo charge it. We are now running it on E85 @ 24psi with two HE351CW Holset turbos and we are turning 721 whp and 800 lb/ft of torque. We initially had the truck lifted slightly with 33 in mud tires. But with that kind of power the tires were not very happy and neither was the truck at high speeds. So I lowered the truck about 3 in and installed some new street wheels and tires. Have not driven it yet since we did these mods do to crappy weahter up here in ND. It decided to bless us with much more winter. We also gave the old girl a new coat of flat black paint and I painted the interior an added some new carpet and door inserts. I will post some pics and if anyone has questions on the truck or the buil I would be glad to elaborate on it. I have been working on this thing for too long to include everything in one post. Here are some pics and some video.

I like the black and the lower look.

I think what you are doing with that old 4wd is great. Keep it cranking. Im going to upstroke a 360 for my 63 F250 4wd when I get to that stage. I couldnt believe how much HP you were pulling out of that 292 when I saw your article posted here a while ago. Hi from Washington state.
