Ezer's delima...

Post by Casey 65 »

Chris is struggling with leaving his (usta be Cam's) truck stock (not a satisfying choice for Chris) of modifying it to suite himself. He hates to change such a pristine truck, but isn't satisfied with the truck as it sits to the point of selling her (I offered $750.00 for her... he laughed!). But, wouldn't we all like to start with a truck like his and do the mods to suite ourselves instead of replacing A LOT OF RUSTED PANELS! I told him that the person that had on opinion on what he should do has his name on the truck title! He wants to replace the six with a V8 and an automatic tranny and some custom wheels. What the heck, life is too short to not do what pleases you. For all of you out there, DON'T BE CONCERNED WITH WHAT OTHERS THINK! They don't own your truck and they ain't got the right to give you hell about, "Well, I'd have done it...". Forget the others, do what gives you pleasure!

Well, if he fixes it all up fancy, I am warning him right here now, I will probably still lean on it at Slickstock, I mean it was a pretty good leanin truck.

At that small car show on the last day of Slickstock half the club members had an arm, hand or @ss on it !

You're preaching to the choir, Casey :P
Chris IS going to do what Chris wants; he's also aware of the implied responsibility of having a well known pristine, stock truck. Pretty sure we can all guess what it will be.
Just in case, though; I'll go $850  Might even throw in a slick or two that he can hammer on to his heart's content!

I still say as I did on Facebook do what you want to it but keep all the original parts " if for some reason you ever do sell it and the new owner wants to return it to stock they can " .

I started with a Basket of Rusted Rust knowing I was going to change alot and figuring I wasnt going to ruin a pristine truck and wouldnt do what I am doing to a pristine Uni . That being said Chris we are not talking chopping the top or shaving it just making it yours . Most of the mods you want to do CAN be reversed if the original parts are kept .

I know a man in Fla down the street from my mom that has a PILE of model A fords and he wont sell any of them as he is skeered some punk like me would cut them up and turn them into :o Hot Rods  . I figure he is letting good cars waste away so that they wont be good for anything when he is gone .

Just in case though Chris I'll up the anti with $950.00 and a JAcked up Uni custom lifted on 32 " of blocks :D.

Well said.

Cam wanted to mod it... Chris wants to mod it. Cam was a fan of hanging out... Chris is a fan of hanging out.

I see nothing wrong with modding the truck. Chances are someone else will buy it and do the same.

Come on Chris, make it yours. You don't have to do a full boogie custom, make your own dream come true. You'll never have a better starting point that this one, and besides, if you're worried about Cam, I'm betting he'll be looking over your shoulder and giving you a little nudge from time to time to keep you on the right path.
You know we're right.
Go for it.

It's very cool because it's in nice original condition. But it's yours and personally I won't lose sleep over whatever direction you go in since I usually fall asleep thinking about the one in my garage. :D

I say do what you want with it and be happy because buying it gave you that right.

Everything is modified, it is just a question of degree. Keep in mind that when these things were new they were no great shakes.
We should make them start better, stop better, run better...etc. If you find a slick at Pebble Beach, let me know.

Hmmmm...

I actually regret "restoring" my 65 at times. But hard to disagree with doing what you want...

Perhaps Ezer would like to trade his truck for my 65 and then he could drop a honkin' stroked 460 in there and I could have his original???

The thought runs through my head after reading this thread..... I've had two scotches though.... Prolly should not trade my Dad's truck....

Chris.
Keeping it looking (close to) original on the outside will make you fall in love with the truck again every time you look at it.
And every time anyone else looks at it. Including Cam.
Modify it under the skin with disc brakes, a good power mill with a slush box of your choosing, and it will make you fall in love with it again every time you drive it.
And every time anyone else drives it.

I'm with US on this one.
Just my humble opinion.

Ditto on BP's comment. I love 460's with a C6. Sucks gas like a pig but really goes like a bat out of hell. Makes me happy every time I drive it. Looks stock. Fools ricers. IMHO!
