Seats with Integral Seat and Shoulder Belts.

Post by ken_b »

I'm thinking of using a set of Chevy seats that have the seat belts and shoulder belts built in. Silverado pickups and some other models had seats like this.

Seems like an easy way to get shoulder belts.

Anyone tried this or have any advice?

I'm 6', 225, and they just don't leave enough room for me. Even without the gas tank, they make for a tight fit due to their bulk. If mounted with the backrests nearly vertical, they are lacking in room and comfort IMO.

Yeah, I wondered how much room they'd take compared to a stock seat. Right now my truck has some aftermarket seat that leaves a lot to be desired.

My favorite bucket seats (from a style perspective) are those from a 64 - 66 Thunderbird, which I think would look great in the truck if they fit, but that still leaves the shoulderbelt issue to deal with. I'd really like shoulder belts.

This is how you deal with the 3point seat belts :2cents:

Wasn't there an F-150 seat from around 2007 or so that had the shoulder straps built in? It seems they were less bulky than the Chevrolet seats. Thanks, Lyman.

I thought I had seen something like that, but haven't been able to sort it out.

So a little more digging around and I see that 2002 - 2006 (& maybe later) F150 Super Cab and some regular cab trucks had intergrate seat/shoulder belts.

They look pretty thick though.

Maybe I can find some to measure to see if they'd fit a Uni.

Is drilling a hole and fishing a backup plate for a shoulder anchor Harder than custom fabricating seat brackets and lowering the floor?

I don't think it is.

This looks easier:

I bought a pair of 2002 - 2006 (& maybe later) F150 Super Cab intergrate seat/shoulder belts. Made brackets and welded them to the floor mounted the seats and cut holes in the brand new carpets then removed it all and put back in the stock seat. In MHO there isn't enough room . I'm average size and I was to high and close to the steering wheel and I don't have gas tank in cab. Tom

Tomrooster; Thanks for the info.

It does seem like the seats may be just to big. Seems like you and Toyz ran into similar issues and I might as well.

Darn it! :)
