yeah, they sent a local estimator out to look it over. I went to my engine rebuilder who restores cars, and he was under the estimate by $100. Im guessing that will even out in the end. not bad since the shop didn't know the insurance estimate.

Thanks,
I hope I never have to find out how well they handle claims; their road service was much quicker than American Express's, and I have heard no bad about them. Glad to hear they seem to respond well and accurately.

If they do get caught, they pay a fine, and maybe lose their license (but will keep driving anyway). The insurance company of the other vehicle or the owner can sue them for the damages, but these types of people have nothing, and you can't get blood from a stone, as they say.

They are scumbags. The just don't care. And they are out there in ever greater numbers.
Wow it's a lot different in Alberta. The fines for driving without insurance are steep, in the 10's of thousands. I also hear but not from personal experience that if you don't have insurance and there is a liability claim against you the government settles it and then they do get the blood from your stones!

Also different about the plates, we need insurance to register and get a plate. But they never ask for it back and have no idea if we drop the insurance.

Sorry to see about your truck. Did you get your repair done yet
