I just got a 1961 unibody with a stock 223. I have replaced all the gaskets to the exhaust manifold and I've gone over it with a fine tooth comb looking for cracks and thank god I lucked out and there arnt any....my problem is I have an exhaust leak where the pipe meets the manifold. I've replaced the gasket and I still have the leak. There is exhauset pipe packing that came with the gasket kit I ordered but it is to big for my pipe (im 98% sure the pipe is stock). Any thoughts on where I can find packing that will fix the leak or another way to fix it?
Also the guy I bought the truck off of had a weird home grown pin attacking the throttle to the carb. Any ideas on where I can find the linkage that connects to the ball on the carb?
Thanks for the help!

Re: 2 questions, exhaust and throttle linkage
If you have pictures, they are always welcome. I can't remember the trick to the exhaust manifold to pipe packing if there is one. Someone on here will be able to point you to the good gaskets.
If you are talking about the funny little thing that hooks the carb to the throttle linkage, they are hard to find, but someone here I am sure has one. If they don't, I make them.

Re: 2 questions, exhaust and throttle linkage
exhaust shop should be able to sell you a dougnut that fits it... size of the inner round flange groove, and about 3/8ths" thick

Yeah that's basically exactly what I'm looking for, I tried to make one but not having a mig welder limited my options. Pm me and let me know what you are selling those for.bobenhotep wrote:If you have pictures, they are always welcome. I will try and take a look into an exhaust shop and see what I can't figure out.
I keep trying to post pics but every time I do the file size is to big or the thread has reached the photo limit

Re: 2 questions, exhaust and throttle linkage
I will pm you about the throttle link. Most of us post pictures via photobucket. I have used the on site album before, but you can get bigger pictures on here and view them not logged in if you go photobucket.
