Clutch release bearing

Post by 64F100StepSide »

Can anyone point me to where I can get a correct throw out bearing for a 64 F100 223 3 speed? The one that came with the SACHS clutch kit is not even close. Jeez. I have looked at the typical places that they all look like the one in the kit (or similar).

Do you have your old one? I should know what it looks like but it's been awhile. Your bearing should have a hub inside that rides on the tranny snout and a groove for the clutch fork to ride in. The bearing should be larger than the one that came with the clutch kit you have. It will press on and off the center hub, ar at least should. Bearing I believe is the same for 53 on up, and possibly as for back as the model A. This is a guess from my memory but it's been awhile. I have a new bearing somewhere, problem is finding it. Wondering if the clutch you bought is a diaphragm style and if it is, it may not work well with the correct bearing. Uncertain on this though. Been awhile since I messed with one. Next time I'm in my building I will see If I can find a used one to compare with. Bearing is very common, and sometimes comes with the center hub attached.

you do realise that it is 2 pieces and the bearing is pressed on to the sleeve with the groove for the fork.
once you take the 2 apart the throwout bearing looks like all the rest.
sorry i dont have a pic of this.

I just lucked out and found an old one (long story). I did not know they were 2 pieces, but I see now. However the one that came with kit still has an ID way way too big and would not push on hub. I have a picture of it is too big for this site. However, now having a old one tells me a lot.

OK. I found the correct bearing (on hub) from Partsgeek.com. The ironic thing is that they are the ones that sold me the clutch kit with the wrong bearing
