New member in Oklahoma
Hey guys
, Long time Ford man here living right on old route 66 in far western OK. My first vehicle (in 1982) was a turquoise '65 f100 lwb. Loved that truck,it was my daily driver for 8 years. Actually taught my wife how to drive a standard in it. The driveline consisted of a freshened up '69 car 390, 428cj heads & cam, quadrajet carb from a buick, cheap headers, 3 speed standard with Hurst comp. plus 4spd shifter, and 2.75 rear gears from the '69 Monterey the engine came from. Everyone called her "mean green", she would come across the quarter line at 97mph in second gear 8)3rd gear was plum scary. Had lots of fun in that truck ( and got in lots of trouble) Wound up selling it after buying a '69 f100 Ranger
Call it what you will, a sentimental thing, midlife crisis, or whatever. But the wife and I (yes I still have the same wife) have been wanting another "mean green" for some time. So, I'm picking up a 352/3spd '65 swb that will be caribbean turquoise (and fast) when I'm done with it. I'm thinking about either a 393 or 408 windsor stroker and a wr toploader 4 spd. Anyhow, thats my story, I'll be back

Are you out near Elk City? Always good to see a fellow Okie in the group.
Quite a few members here in the Sooner State. Hope one of these days
we can all have a ''Meet and Greet''. Slick Stock is great for that. TR
