But sometimes things happen , that make you forget that kinda pain
It’s been very rainy & keeping us out of the field
But Wednesday I decided to just make a couple rounds
(I knew it was too wet, but I wanted to change oil
Just wanted to warm it up)
So I made a couple short rounds , right close to the house
I noticed some extra smoke coming from Under the hood…
I knew it wasn’t diesel smoke ….
I lifted the implement & put it in a higher gear
I made a beeline toward the water faucet …
Did I mention I didn’t have my cell phone because Colleen had it ?
And this is my sons tractor …
And nobody’s at home … and the house phone is out of operation
By the time I got to the hydrant, there was flames coming out of the hood
Right in front of the window
I don’t remember shutting off the tractor, or even getting out
I do Remember turning on the water & squirting it in the hood openings….
Could here a lot of steam …
Popped open the hood … no flame but still smoldering … bird nest
Wet it down some more ….. sat down and did nothing for about 10 minutes
Started it up the next morning to put in the shop
Scorched wire, but not terrible , burned some hose shielding , but most hoses ok
Except return fuel line… squirting diesel everywhere… and throttle cable melted
Could have been a LOT worse …..
Took about $150 worth of parts & a days work , but it’s back in the field today
That was about enough f*****g excitement for me this month
