I'M SO CONFUSED :!: :?
How can I agree with both Comet and JC at the same time.
I do agree Boyd should be shot for chopping up museum quality old cars to make hotrods :!:
I also am of the opinion Fords should be in Fords :!: :D 8)
That said I also being a hot rodder at heart . I believe that cars or parts that are not mint or can be used for any purpose the buyer choses.
And while I personally would put some form of Ford in Comet's car , I think the idea of an old Hemi in a period Resto rod would be cool. 8)
Sorry JC i even put an IDIDIT column in my Truck :!:
Also I Practise what Comet refured to earlier. Took 4 rusty (holes) doors and made 2 good ones, hood had dents and rust holes, new front fenders were cut off and discarded at vintage tin yard in NC, Lots of dents no holes. Cab required lower hing pocket rebuild ,new floor/firewall.
Anyway you get the point.
any Hot Rod witha SBC that is not a chev is boring and NOT in the true spirit of Hot Rodding
That is just my opinion.
Because to me hot rodding means building something just a little bit different . That itis a reflection of you and your IMAGINATION :!:
Small block CH@#^&^%$%#$%S require no imagination.

I realized in Chat tonight that a lot of people might not realize that some of this is sparked on by me just to maintain a discussion going on here. While I DO actually do what I say here and I DID actually nearly get in a fist fight with a guy, who I called an idiot for sticking a SBC in a duece coupe this summer, I am generally sparking this convo on as a kind of disturber, as opposed to a madman.

There is no emoticon in here for a gleam in the eye while your are stirring up the crap, just to see where the convo goes. I obviously can't change Comet's mind or Chop's or anyone else's no matter what I might do to my own vehicle, however, there's something new to read here every day as opposed to:

"Anyone know where the grease nipples go on a U-joint?"

so agree or disagree.. just jump on in and keep it going if you want. Eveyone has an opinion, they are just like belly buttons. more fun than grease nipples too.

I think we should run up to Canada and steal JC's truck for a few days and put a bunch of GM goodwrench stickers all over it and stab in a SBC for kicks, make it some demented overhaulin episode. Yeah we should call Chip Foose and have him steel it, and make it over with a 350 chevy with a quadrajet carb, a 10 bolt rear end and a chevy steering wheel. It would be fun. Hey JC, don't get upset with SBC's in Fords. From the looks of it, these guys are just ahead of their time!

I've never seen an episode where the owner was truly disgusted with the outcome. That would be pretty groundbreaking.

I don't think I've ever seen an off-brand engine swap on there either, come to think of it...

You Chip Foose? POW!!!

LOLOL

Actually he seems to pick on the GM guys, particularly the Pontiac guys, replacing thier blue blocks with 350 Chev crate motors. Bet they are choked, even IF you get a hug from Cammie Edelbrock. :D

I heard Bill Ford stepped down as CEO of Ford.. maybe a wacky merger like that is not far off. I can almost hear Henry turning over in his grave. :?

That's true, Foose does tend to put Chevy crate motors in Olds and Pontiac cars. I forgot about that. But there was the Model A tub that he put a 312 y-block in, and the '49 Ford that kept the stock flathead. 8)

And a few ROUSH (drool) motors in Fords too.
But hey look what he drives.. a F150 as a work truck and a '56 with... you guessed it ....a ROUSH motor.

I'd feel pretty safe with Chip working on my Vehicle.

Just remember when building a street rod, it is best to use a car that is in excellent condition. Make that museum quality, it makes it easier to work on. THat way a 350/350 chevy will fit in there with very little dificulty. Add a whole lot of billet and then you will have a bitchen ride. LOL

Chip and Cammie Edelbrock running another > oooo!< 300 horse 350 into a Vette tonight. Cammie is gonna have to cut down to few bales of hay a day methinks, or them jeans is one day gonna let go with a HECK of a bang..:?

I imagine that really increases the value of a '57 Vette to dump the orig 283 and stick in an Edelbrock crate motor with > oooo!< 300 horses .

Did I hear Cammie say it was a 305?

Apparently the V8 that was in it wasn't original anyway...

Could be, whenever I watch a television show with my wife, she blabs thru the whole show and is quiet as a mouse during the commercials. This pattern has carried on for all 19 years we have been married, so I have grown used to trying to listen to the TV between stories of who did what at her work during the day.

So, I probably missed that.
