door disassembly

how do you get into the inside of the door on these years of trucks. i have seen the panel at the bottom but that doesnt seem quite enough to get to the cc handles. so how do i reach them. do i have to feel around for the bolts and just guess at turning them?

OK, here is a visualization for ya.......open the door. Take a milk box and sit facing the inside of the door. You need to be almost hugging the door. Withthe lower panel off you get to reach as far in and up as possible with a 1/4 socket (I believe it is either that or 5.16.

With your eyes closed (seemed to help me) you get to play touchy feely until the socket is on. Then the first bolt comes off and you think all is great with the world.

The second one will be harder because now the cc plate can move around so save some time and have the wife, significant other or the guy walking down the road come and apply some pressure and it will come off. That was the easy part, now you get to try and line everything up and get the bolt re started to put it all back together

Is there a screw from the side of the door holding the handle on as well?
I seem to remember one on my door but it was not a CC style.

What side are you talking about? Yes from the inside. Good luck! I replaced everything inside my door and it tore my hands and knuckles up!

I feel for ya! Try to get good grip and not let your hands slip.

Phillips head on the side almost under the door seal that holds the push button side of the handle was what I was saying

thats kind of what i thought. i do also close my eyes when doing that kind of work it does seem to help. i dont know why but it does.

Good luck. On a good day it will take you an hour or so to get the old one off and the new one on. Dont forget to use a new rubber gasket. I tried to get by with the old one and then got to do one of the doors twice.

If you are able to get WD or Rustblaster up to the bolts the day begore or a couple of hours before it will help.
