Seat Belts
Seat Belts
This sure seems pricey for belts and strap.

I used those but from this vendor:
http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo.net/resebe.html
Kept me off the hood.
$200 for the hardware and belts don't seem that bad to me.
I was going to order a set today from Wesco.

Someday I'll get another slick

That was for two belts and hardware? What kind of part did they send to anchor the shoulder harness, or did you make one.cdherman wrote:Yeah, I used these at $69 per set.

No, one set each side, so $138 for the pair.
As for the hardware, no the set from Gem did not have a bracket for the 3rd point. But I looked at that set off ebay I don't see the kind of metal you need in there either. Gem does have instructions, which I used as a starting point.
I had the headliner out and then checked placement of the 3d point and marked where I wanted it.
Then I drilled a hole through the inner corner stiffener (this is where I made the only mistake -- you MUST get a drill stop or risk a ding in the outside rear corner when your drill bit catches in your hole) I have a minute crack in my paint on the outside where my drill dinged the corner from the inside.
Then I used a piece of 1" strap iron - you decide where to put the anchor nut based on where you drilled the hole. Used about 8 inches, and long enough that you can hold it down from above.
To attach the anchor nut, you need two nuts and a bolt. You thread a nut on the bolt, then bolt through the hole in the strap iron, then the second nut. Tighten and then WELD one nut in place. Now, you can remove the bolt and the nut will be pefect with no slag and intact threads that will be lined up to the hole.
I then Used a peice of paper to "map" where the holes in the stiffener were. Then re-installed the corner (I have stock headliner) headliners. Then I made a hole through the corner headliner in just the right spot.
Then you can hold your piece of strap iron in place from above and start the bolt.
That how to do the corners, in nauseating detail.......

Since we are discussing this again in detail -- what have the other sucessful installers done for the "buckle side"?
I ordered mine from Gem and what I ordered were the ones with the "long" belt (not the semi-rigid boot), but I see that the ones that Dan linked to from seatbeltsplus are adjustable.
I had trouble on my buckle end -- had to have them shortened (which is not optimal, as the stitching can potentially fail and its not actually legal to modify seatbelts -- I am not worried as the person who shortened mine knows her stuff. But I'd rather have not needed to do that.
Has any one used the semi-rigid ones? How did that work with the seat sliding forward? What about when you fold the back seat forward to get behind the seat?
I know that when I fold my seat forward, my buckles tend to slip back. I have to sometimes reach under and drag them back on top of the seat.
I any case, the adjustable ones that Dan links to sound superior to mine, FYI.
Oh -- I put in a lap belt in the middle too. With a little luck you can get the two middle anchor points in the 65-66 to serve for all three sets of belts. That way I can belt in two kids.
