Dumb question - did the shop use the kit and cover it, or did they fab up an entire headliner? (Don't know much about upholstery)stronger66ratfink wrote:yes I do,
give the kit to a buddy and take it to the uphostery shop!
Sorry, took one look at it and it scared me!
the shop only charged me about $75.00 to make a custom fit
My new signature.
First off, wait till its a hot humid day in the middle of the summer after a rain shower and then lay the cardboard out in the sun on the grass for a few minutes. Or come up with variation of that theme -- the cardboard is stiff and I can imagine even stiffer this time of year. Humidity and heat will loosen it some.
Second -- the rear corners go in first.
Third, the overhead headliner comes next. There are instructions with the kit how to find the hole in the stiffener overhead. You have to get that right, as there is screw up there to help keep it all up. Some careful measurements and you will get it right. Use a scratch awl to push through the cardboard and make a pilot hole.
Fourth -- the back upper corner. Also a pain.
You really MUST have an assistant, someone who will not yell or curse at you and will also not mind if you accidentally yell or curse at them!
Its a pain, but very doable.
Good luck......

I understand the "new" ones are really difficult to get bent in order for it to fit. I had enough trouble putting my old headliner pieces in after having them covered with headliner material to match seat covers. I got the back piece in and the top piece in but still haven't gotten the middle piece back in--probably going to take it to the upholstery lady and let her put the final piece in. Shouldn't cost much and anyway it's cheaper than a divorce. LOL
If you understand what you’re doing, you’re not learning anything.

I gave it to them but I don't think they even pulled it out of the box.
Bronco Tom used it.
look in my profile gallery I think there is a pretty good pic in there of the headliner. I put all the insulation in before I gave it to them and these guys just did what can naturally to them and it looks good.
Even made a special insulated cover for the tank
