I would have to be put in that situation to see what I would do, however, 3 Million isn't just chump change. If someone were to offer me that kind of money, I'd probably let it go too...especially for the reason Ezernut said. Anyone willing to pay that kind of buckage will most certainly take care of it.

i don't know anything of that truck or what it is and as far as trucks go for their history and value but it looks like a truck i would put in the thunderbolt category just by looking at it. that truck probably has a race history and/or a driver which would be the reason for its value in the millions and not the truck itself.

that purple truck??? well lets see, how about the city buy it and throw in their stadium for display. there is nothing tangable to the truck that gives it any value other than it was for a team. the local area or someone that is a fan then it has some value. i wouldn't put my money in the purple truck. i would rather stick it in a ac cobra shelby mustang with shelby's authenticity two feet away.

i buy my trucks to use, not show. i bought the 64 for looks and i will abuse it like the 78 when i am done tweaking it and then when it gets too bad. i will rebuild it again.

I agree with ya grabber, I am building my truck to abuse as well. The only frilly thing in it will be the garter belt strapped to the visor. She looks like a trophy and will be put to the test repeatedly.

As far as the 71 goes, nice bump, I think the owner is a few zeros high. I'd gladly pay 10G for the truck but thats it. Nothing that out of the ordinary besides a cool color. Jeepers, even the seats don't match for pete's sake

Now for all you out there blasphemizing (is that a word) the holy grail of not just slicks but for all else that rolled out of Henry Ford's sweatshops in the 60s, shame on you. How can you put a price on living history!!!!

The XL is too holy to even have a suggested dollar value! May we never know what it might be

Just like sitting in the halls of Valhalla, and Bill loves to tell you stories about it, and his escapades in it. The two of them together (truck and Bill) are absolutely priceless.

Barrett-Jackson does not guarantee you get 5 cents for your vehicle. They are all no reserve, so if the bid goes only to five bucks, then that is exactly what you sold it for, less your commission to them AND a 10% buyers commission also to them.
I would not risk a one of one original factory drag truck, still owned by the original owner to such whacky whims.. If I had owned it for 44 years I wouldn't sell it either. At any price.

The Henry Ford museum calls him up every year to see if he is ready to put it in there yet. Bill just smiles and says "No, I ain't done with it yet."

All I said was if some one offered my 3 mil maybe I would take it depending on the circumstances. Thats all.
I would never reley on an auction house to get me any kind of money. I would have to be offered the money. Period. But yeah it is the holy grail of 60s drag racing history and we are all lucky to not only have it here but also the original owner here with us

All I know at this point is the XL in in a climate controlled garage among another car that is a rare stang. Uncle Bill is preoccupied with farming so we are sitting on the truck at the moment.

Everyone knows my thought: If it can't be done right, leave it alone!!!

Untill further notice it is in a safe controlled enviroment

barret Jackson is a little whack. My roommate is all hyped about it, but it seems a little evil.

Well, I guess if you were willing to set your "priceless" vehicle on the block, let the price go as crazy as possible... But the fact that some things still go cheap is in fact consoling. rare cars will always cost 3/4 of your brain, cheap cars still exist. I guess it isn't all bad. If nothin else I guess it is a big fancy car show... Who cares who owns the cars there or how much they sold them for... I will never be able to afford them, in all likelyhood, anyway.
