You can buy 65-72 brackets from abspowerbrakes that has a cut out for the top grease cap but I don't use the grease caps anymore with this setup. You can also use 57-64 brackets and cut the extra mount tab off as it is not needed or can be used if you want to. I am doing a book on this that gives details of the conversion that I want to put in LULU. My thought was to do a calendar with a detailed set of instructions with pictures. Its to late for the calendar but I can tell you when the book is done if anyone is interested. It was easier to publish a book than write out every detail here. The detailed parts list of what I used other than the brackets is listed below.
o 2 Rotors for 73-79 Ford F100 (11.75 5x5.5) auto zone pn-5456
o 2 Calipers for a 71-76 Cadillac Deville auto zone pn-C126 and C127
o 1 Pair of loaded calipers in place of above is auto zone pn-P4079
o 2 outer bearings/races from Napa pn- BRGBR2
o 2 inner bears only to go with your new races. Speedway pn-912-TL68149 or trade equivalent
o 2 seals 1.872x2.625 Napa pn-44053 or Speedway 912-S18580
o 2 dust caps Napa pn-BK 7351424
o 2 Stainless brake hose 16” Speedway pn-6178562
o 4 Dorman dollar plugs 1”
o High Temp Extreme Pressure disc brake grease
65-72 disc brake conversion

So Wayne, are the brackets the same as the CPP brackets I used just without the extra tab then?

Yes the brackets are the same. You can make a spacer so you could use the extra tab and give yourself another mounting point if you want to. I did go ahead and buy the 65-72 brackets to compare. The 65-72 brackets do not have the 3rd mount tab and have a cut out for the top grease cap otherwise they are the same. I had found the inside of the rotor touching the bottom grease cap. This is were I took a different path and cross drilled the spindles for zerks and capped the top and bottom like the 64. It is so simple a caveman could do it!
The book gives you the step by step details with numerous pictures showing what you need to do to avoid simple pitfalls. Reason for doing a book you ask? I did not get one piece of paper with any thing I bought! I can figure it out but ran into so many issues I thought there had to be others suffering without the the skills to pull it off blind since we are talking about brakes! I bought a complete kit from speedway and a bracket kit from ABS. Watch for brackets to be available soon with the reciepe included!
Back to my orginal point of going this route and some key points.
1:It was someone elses truck that I could not charge for every minute a boneyard trip would have cost.
2: An average owner can do this if they can remove a spindle, drill and tap (without breaking off a tap)
3: New Parts plentiful and inexpensive
4: No re-alignment because of tie rod tampering.
I hope some of you find this an alterative!

Thank you much for that parts list, very detailed. Please keep me informed as to when you publish your book on this procedure. I would also be interested in any suggestions, for a booster, dual master cylinder, proportioning valve, etc.. to go along with your set up. Thanks again for the parts listing

Hey Wayne the kit looks great with a good write up
, One thing need to see is with sometimes a lot of trash on the road the brake lines are exposed at the front need to be up over the frame rail hidden so not to get hit, kinda like having power assist steering with all those hoses exposed to danger, If something was to hit that line would crimp it next time hit the brakes will pull real hard or brake at the fitting. Example: when we got our semi's years ago had to build a protective braces for the crossover lines for the fuel tanks for the reason recaps on the roads would rip them apart and even once in the desert on I-40 a Jack Rabbit rip them off the truck loosing fuel other than that looks great Wayne

Book?
Hey Needmoretime did you ever get a chance to do the book? After hitting up the yards for a disc brake swap from a 1973-1979 I will end up with more time and money in that setup and the way you did it looks faster with less down time for my truck.
