Looking really good. Do you have any more pics (different angles) at it's current state of build? I should have my new 63 Crew on site in a couple of weeks. Looks like your doing a lot of the same things I had in mind. Not sure if I have the skills and patience to do the suicide doors, but they really look great. Looks like you have the same problem as me with the fender sag. Do you have a cause and solution yet?

Very Cool! You gonna move the locks on the rear doors or just delete them?

FMD thanks for being one of the guys in the club who has taken longer than me to get your truck on the road. :thumright: She is looking very sweet. I remember the "Frankentruck" when you brought her home LOL
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

Hopefully Bob Fuirst continued on the build on the suicide crew and will be at SS08. Bob was at SS06 with the flag truck, The Big 66 4x4.

Sorrowfully i had to sell it to finance my move from NE PA to Phoenix.

Hah! I bookmarked your pic album from the other site like 2 or 3 years ago, when I stumbled on it one day. :D

THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS..MORE PICS SOON

Post by FORDMANDAN »

HI GUYS, THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS... to answer some of the questions. i welded up the lock holes last week. the suicide doors offer alot more room to get in and out. the original ones would only open partially and was very restrictive. they could open to far as the would overlap the front doors. so my doors now open straight out! thanks for posting the arcive link to my pictures.slow I AM! (good at it! ) but after years of procrastinating i am NOW working on as much as i can. i am not sure i will have paint on it but i am bringing it done or not! If i have to i will trailer it up there pulling it with "ole green" (66 f100 300 4 speed). i know she can step up and bring it there.i hope to drive it though. oh yeah someone mentioned "fender sag" the yellow fender on my truck isnt even bolted on so it is just flopping around. i only used that fender to fit everything to my new frame. we all know "fender sag come from rusted out cab mounts and replacing them is the answer. in my case i have new frame and custom build cab mounts. well got to run. will try to get more pictures soon.....

That was me. But, when I finally saw my Crew Cab in person last week, I discovered that the "perceived" problems with the fender sag were caused by them not being bolted on (like yours). The PO replaced the front sheet metal and hadn't gotten around to doing the "the bolt thing". I can't wait to get it down here and start to work on it.
Oh BTW: Although "conventional wisdom" is that the hinges were always on the outside of the "aftermarket" (non-factory) crews, mine disputes this theory by being inside, just like the front doors.
If you understand what you’re doing, you’re not learning anything.
