Question on stoplight switch

Post by hombre292 »

Just bought a new mechanical stoplight swith to go with my new dual master cylinder (mustang) I am putting on my '64 shortbed slick. Here is my question ----- how do I install this switch? (its coming in the mail)

My old single master cylinder had the hydraulic switch. But the new one is mechanical. Has anyone installed one?? Thanks for your help.

I thought there was a write up in the tech (hints & tricks) articles, but couldn't find it.

I did mine by getting a stout sheet metal "L" shaped bracket, and fastening that to the column. Then fastened a mid 70's F100 brake light switch to the brake pedal arm, adjusted to be close with brake pedal up, and open with a slight amount of pressure on the pedal.

I then wired it into the old brake light switch on the firewall.

Not as hard as it might sound. Worse part was mounting the bracket in a good spot.

Actually, there is a write up: http://fordtruk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2246
