I finally got the install complete. All I'm missing is the rotors and calpiers. I installed polyeurethane suspension bushings in place of the old sloppy rubber.
After finishing I was in such a good mood that I yanked the rear axle out to get after refurbishing it. Anyone have any rear suspension ideas? I know I can always redo the stock equipment but the frt end is supposedly gonna handle great. I would like the rear to match. Thanks, Enjoy!
I just wanna know how many times you whacked your head on those hinges??
My "Slickitis" affliction began here...

If it starts to rain, they'll tax the splash.
If you want to fish, they'll tax the bass.
If you plant a yard, they'll tax the grass.
If you don't play nice, they'll fine your *$#!
I must have hit my head 3 or 4 times. The hinge bolts are stripped and I haven't figured how to get them out w/o destroying things.
HeavyHauler, who makes that sway bar kit and brake setup are you running. Those rears look nniiiicccceeeeee..... I am still hunting for rear brake/master cylinder options.
I agree with Heavy on flipping the rear and I have used a sway bar setup off of a MK VII rear and it works great with some energy suspension end links if it worked out to be easier and cheaper.

Great job on the install, it looks awesome. Nice straight looking slick too
this would compliment your front end work nicely. I installed this setup with leaf spring floaters on mine. I guess it depends how much you want to hook up.

Basically, the brackets get welded to the axle tube and the leafs sit inside on the rollers. In order to transfer all torque through the ladder bars, the U-bolts must be removed from the springs so they just "float". Not to mention the fact that with changing the pinion angle via the front mount on the ladder bars, the springs must be able to roll somewhat. Hope that makes some sense.
The picture shown on the linky would be for an under the axle mount similar to jecsd1 setup. Hope this explains it
looks very nice that is a great looking set up, on my 65 i flipped the axle and c notched the frame also took out a spring or two to get the back down the way i wanted , the front i used MII with dropped spindles and stainless A arms top & bottom

Ya that does make sence. How would that hold up to the 600ft-lbs I am going to have from my 5xxcid bored out 460?
