That truck was for sale in the seattle area it has the frame andrunning gear from an 86 under it.

460 powered..One of our guys in that area scoped it out for me.

I passed on buying it and bought my 69 Highboy crew instead.

That is my truck. I drove it up from WA a few weeks ago. It is a 65 Crown conversion crew cab with a 460 and C6. It has a dana 60 with disc brakes on the front and a dana 70 with duals in the back. It had a np205 divorced transfer case but it took a crap so I replaced it with a dana 24. The brakes were not very good because the 460 did not leave much room for a brake booster. I replaced the under sized booster with a hydraboost from a 99 1 ton. Now it will put you through he window if you get on the brakes hard. It runs and drives great. But it has no interior and is like driving around in a tin can. The interior is next on my list of things to fix on it.

it was here a little while ago.
actually has the original frame with 86 axles.
door tag reflects the extended wheelbase too.
sounds real nice too.
not much room around the 460 in the engine bay though.
i think he got a nice 4x4 slick crew for what he paid and not a lot of stuff to do on it.

Brian

Seller wanted 5.5K and it was just a little more than i wanted to spend.

65 Crew, That' s a 65/66 factory crew what makes you think it is a crown. Did you when replacing the T case get a drive shaft for the front axle fabbed? That was one of my sticking points as the PO could not answer my direct question as to why there was no front shaft hooked up. Simple as the T case was kaput!

The center pillar with hidden hinges, and the rain gutter accross the C pillar says it is a factory unit.... Nice rare bird..

My 66 crown crew did not have the hidden hinges or the wider divider nor the drip rails accross the C pillar.

Sorry summer came and i got busy.

To answer some of your questions.

I just assumed it was a conversion to a crew cab but after talking with ice man and looking at the the door plate it is a factory crew.

The T-case wasn't broken when I bought it. The truck came with a front driveshaft, the PO installed it before I picked it up. The problem was the driveshaft and trans crossmember did not live happily together. I noticed they were quite close but I forgot to take it off before my trip. The driveshaft ended up hitting the crossmember and taking out the slipjoint and the t-case. I was able to drive it but I had to change it.

I paid 4.5K and was happy to do it. I had never seen one before I bought this one.

It rides like a haywagon and sounds like your in a tincan but I love it.
