Whats your truck worth to you?
After thoroughly ticking off my girlfriend at the mere suggestion of selling my truck, (not going to, I was just hypothesizing) I decided to post it and put it to you folks.
My original scenario was:
I bought the truck for $350.
I have 2 other trucks I can fix up.
Someone came along, absolutely had to have my truck, and offered me some outrageous price for it, say, $5,000 the way it is. Would I sell it? Especially seeing how I need money for college, my new business, and my shop?
My girlfriend started in punching and hollering at me while I was driving when i even suggested it, demanding how on earth i could even think about selling "Sirius", no matter what the price.
So, what would it take to pry your loved one away? (talking about the truck here obviously, not the girlfriend or wife or spouse) Or is there no amount of money that could get you to give it up?

Everything is for sale.
The magic number is what it would take to replace my halfway nice truck with one fully finished.
Think of all the time I'd save on a restoration.
That's a pretty big number, but if someone is dumb enough to pay it...

My '66 isn't for sale for any amount of money, period. Other things, maybe, but not my '66...or my '70 Charger, for that matter. We've been through too much together.

my 66 4x4 took me 4 years to finish ,and it still has things i need to do. original investment $2k for the 63 f250 and $400 for the 66 4x4.got roughly the same $2400 out of my pocket in parts and stuff.new $700 worth of tires too.dont want to sell it but bring by $7K and we can talk.
wife wont even think of selling hers
any of the projects or other trucks here except the uni, towtruck and f500 are always for sale, got plenty for building stock so when our personal vehicles are done we can do some to sell.

I would not sell mine for the folowing reasions...
- It was the first automobile I bought.
- I whent on my first date with my wife in it.
- Had my first time in it

- It was the reasion I started learning how to work on cars (never had much interest before)
- It is going to be my first total rebuild
I once told the wife that the kids would go before I would sell my 21 T
Wrong! when it came down to it, the family wins. I sold that off in a crisis and sold my 53 Mainliner with 34000 original on it when we decided to move east. Now I have my 65, which I really wouldn't want to sell off, but if it stood between what the family needs and keeping it, the family wins.
The T went for 6500 Canadian (appraised at 12,5 when I got it) the 53 went for 1200 Canadian after 2 years of welding and work (paid the equivelant of 250 for it)
It's all just priorities.
Now If I hit the lottery, you can bet that there would be some money put aside for buying back every car I ever had that I liked and a few more.

From a guy without his Ford that he left on a rock in the North Atlantic.
That is exactly what I did when I sold the 51000 mile original 57 Chevy PU my grandad bought new in 57. Owned it for 22 years and swore on numerous times I would never sell it. In the end I got enough out of it to buy the Slick, and sink some of the leftover cash into it to have a nice ride. Also got rid of a Chevy and added another Ford to the stable.DV65CustomCab wrote:Everything is for sale.

I have some regrets, but I would never do any of the stuff I always wanted to do to the 57. Like a front clip, V8, etc., etc. So why keep it around, the guy that bought it was really stoked get it.
And I would sell the Slick too, all you have to do is pay me a couple of thousand more than I have in it, which is already too much.
Yeah, I would sell some of the other vehicles if push came to shove & I really needed the money. I don't have that strong of an attachment to them, as of yet.
My '66, in it's current project condition, it's not really worth a whole lot, so that helps with my "ain't selling" mentality.
A few years ago, I hit a financial pit & actually did try selling my Charger, but nobody wanted to pay what I considered it to be worth...and I wasn't gonna give it away.
The way prices are these days on Chargers, I probably wouldn't have any problem getting what I think it's worth...but now I don't need to sell, either.

I like my uni but it is gonna require some big time work soon, that I don't have time for. Right guy came along with 3500-$4000 and it'd be going down the road.
The Merc.. I have so much money, time, anger, frustration and sweat into the Merc that I could never sell it for what I have into it. Nearly everything on it has been done twice, the first time an expensive lesson the second time done right. Howard freakin' Hughes would have to show up with a checkbook just to take it off my hands for what I have in it.
The other day I said to the wife, "I could have just bought a REALLY nice muscle car, and been driving it for 3 years by now... Sigh.

It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..
I'm a little upside down too right now, but mostly for all the chrome. So if I sold it as is, I'd probably take the chrome off and sell it seperately and put junk yard tin back on it. I'll keep this for awhile, but I'm not totally in love with it. I'd like to drive it, though. If a '40 Ford truck came along, my Uni would be gone like a bad habit. I foresee a day when I sell it. Mostly because of space. I'm already renting space for the Model A.

I cant sell my white 64, cause ive had it 10 years(since I was 10 years old). I learned a LOT on that truck. And I cant sell my red 65 project that Im doing now, cause its gonna be sweet when Im done and I'll have to much money in it, and my uncle gave me that truck.. I could sell the green 64 that I have, which is completley apart, not quite attached to it yet. but I would regret it. And I definatley could sell my 2002 F150...sick of the payments and its not that durable of a truck

My wife has finally reconsiled herself about my relationship with my 66 but does have one issue to deal with. Since I will not sell it she has decided that I can be buried in it since I spend so much time in/on/over/under the truck. Her only issue is how to get the hole in the ground big enough to drop the f100 into. Says she wont have to buy a casket. Would I sell? Only if the other option was to loose my wife or son.
I swore off getting emotionally attached to vehicles a looooong time ago......
Then I bought a truck that shouted BUY ME!!! BUY ME!!!! and even though I only drove it once for about 30 minutes(in this time the wheel cyl went out, heater core popped and the carb started bubbling gas everywhere!) before I even got it out of her home town I LOVED it!!
Now for six or seven grand MAYBE she'd go. MAYBE. It's the first truck I don't have to do floors in so......

I've had my 66 since 1973.
I couldn't get enough for it to begin to pay back what I've spent over the years just to cover my costs there. But then when I plug in the therapy, enjoyment, pride, emotional attachment. . . . Well y'all get the idea where this is going, it's 1 of those deals where more than Dead Presidents have value to me, and a lot of stuff we've been through I can't replace for love nor money.
However everything else I own is for sale, except for my wife & family, guitars, memories, reputation & my country + as I said my 66 Slick.
