Glad you liked that!
it's horrible. I assure you.
I got tired of looking at its horribleness, so I screwed down an old speaker grate over it. I do not wish to reinstall a speaker under the grate however, as it would perpetuate the awfulness.
the donor cab I got has a decently nice dash, I think I'm gonna transplant the section.... Definitely not gonna transplant the whole dash....
Probably get some 3/16 x 1/2 strip to weld into the opening for the radio and make a proper slot, with some depth to it, so the silly little mounting tabs on the radio have something to hold onto, other than the STICKS I used to install it... Surprisingly, they have been in there for 6 years, not glued or anything, just the tabs holding them in, and have not fallen out.

'63 with 390 & lots of juice. But never enough. Always want more.

My 65 is one owner besides me and in very orignal shape. It has no holes for a radio. ( I would not call it a "Radio Delete"). The holes were never ther to be deleted. It does have the speaker holes, not a custom cab.

Iceman,
Will you make a template of the "original" radio dash holes. I want to have the "garage door" hole on my dash welded up and made to look right.
Or I guess I could use my old Ford radio as a guide, but it wouldn't be as close as a template directly off of the original holes.

Hi Jonas,
That sure looks like a sweet '65 F250 you've got there!
From your above pic, it looks like there might be four rivets or screws at the corners of the speaker grille. If so, what do they do or hold?

So, how hard is it to cut out a dash like Iceman has? My 65 dash is super clean (factory paint is still shiney) and the rest of the cab is JUNK!

not very hard but i would not use the flame wrench again.
next one gets sawzalled.
theres brackets on either end holding the dash to the cab in front of the doors, one in the middle to unbolt and the rest is cut as close to the windshield seam as possible.with the windshield out of course.

It's funny how in 2008, we'd give anything for an unmolested dashboard (I'm lucky enough to have one) but in 1978 we'd have cut the hole with anything we had available to install our new Pioneer Super Tuner II cassette deck!! Times sure do change.

I can't get to my red '66 right now, or I'd show you guys what a hack job the PO did on my dash...I think he said it involved a hacksaw & vise grips.
