Rams Horn Exhaust Manifolds
Does anyone know if C2TE 9430 B is the correct casting number for a set of manifolds to fit a car/light truck Y-Block engine?

I have a set of rams horns at home. I'll try to remember to look at the number on them.
The Y-block manifold bolt holes are inline. The Lincoln Y manifold looks similar but the holes are kinda zig-zagged and it has a brace between the two humps.
The rams horns are truck items - the motor mount is in the way on the cars.

If I end up keeping my 62, I'm ordering a set of Rams Horns from Mummert in the Spring. I've been putting off changing out those old headers long enough!

You are by far better off coughing up the dough to Mummert for new ones. Used ones sell for the same $, don't flow as well as his, can crack (how old are they now?), plus the time and $ to blast & coat them when the new ones only need coated.

You're correct. I was looking at a set on e-bay but they wound up going for almost what a new set will bring. I'm thinking Mummert gets $350 for a set? That seem right? It would cost $225 for a set of Red's headers. I've also heard of people buying just one (for the drivers side) and capping off the passenger side manifold until the funds are available for the other side. Actually I understand that they will fit either side.Greg D wrote:You are by far better off coughing up the dough to Mummert for new ones. Red's headers woke my 292 up, had to custom weld the 2-1/2" flange onto my purple hornies to get it to bolt up to the headers tho. If I was doing it again I would have prolly gone with sandersons because of the 3" collector being way more standard. never thought a set of headers would make an engine come alive like it did but way better than the stock manafold and crossover. Id save the cash and just go headers but if ramhorns are the look you want then do it right the first time.

I have car manifolds for my Uni, the passenger side is on. I was gonna make a custom pipe to use the drivers side but have since decided to move the column so that will need done first. I am about 98% sure they can work though, you just need to make the head pipe with U bends made for header building instead exhaust shop bends - the latter isn't tight enough.

Tim: I really don't have a great preference between the headers or the Ram Horns. I just want to get rid of my "redneck" headers (ie: flex pipe welded to the drivers side headers)
Greg: I would be interested in how that works out. I'm going to put a R&P No Limit on my Uni (and will either cut off a stock column to link to the R&P or use an aftermarket column) and have been eye-balling if there would be enough room for the drivers side car header to exit without interference.
