Nice looking little shorty, congrats!
What was the story on it...someone took it apart to fix it up & before they knew it, 20 years had passed? Like me??
Even though that bullet hole doesn't make the 'Texas cut' for a badge of honor, it still would have been an eye-opening experience for someone. Probably shot the front tire out, while they were at it.

Nice find Chris! Glad you're an official member now.
And since I'm from N.Y. but living in Texas, the ONLY time a bullet hole is NOT a badge of honor is when it came from a shiny automatic held sideways and not aimed. Then it's a disgrace and you should be ashamed of yourself.

lol max. when i shoot, i shoot to kill. i don't think the 9 will make that big of a hole, but there would be more of them and they would be more strategically placed.
greg, the best part was that delivery was included in the purchase price. which was a good thing. the kingpins are frozen solid and my tow dolly would have been useless.

Oh Goody..... Another local with a 65-66. Some nasty rust there in a couple of places. You going to blast it to really find the problems? Shall I start collecting parts for powersteering swap? I think I sold most of my stash to various folks at SS3 Soon as its warmer again, I have the itch to start hitting the pick and pull. You have the C4 and 351 picked out?
These bullet hole stories have me grinning. The texans can talk, but in my part of the west, a real bullet hole had to have an entrance into the cab (or bed or engine bay) meaning that someone done shot at you. Just shootin' your gun inside the truck usually means you are just stupid... I did that once or twice though, in spite of my superior intellect.....

nope. i just plan to put it together and drive it. i know this will make most folks cringe, but if i start dumping tons of cash into this i won't drive it.
i just want a dependable daily driver that can go out in the winter with our salty roads and not freak out about it.
i haven't driven my 68 since october sometime, and i won't drive it again until springtime after the roads have been cleansed of that awful salt mixture that we like to use around here.
i'm seriously thinking about buying a rusty 73-77 with a good drive train and just swapping in the engine and transmission.
my theme here is cheap, cheap, cheap!

You can always fix the rust, rhino line the bottom side (from the parts store) and still drive it in the winter.
Result - nice Slick, salt safe, = happy Slick owner.
I am afraid you will otherwise regret not taking a few extra steps cause you will constantly be chasing other problems the rust will cause if left unchecked.
