Hey all, I found this site through a member here in AZ named Aerik. I was buying some parts from him to finish fixing up my old truck and he recommended this site. Good stuff so far.

Here's my short story...

My Father bought a 1964.5 Camper Special Short Bed complete with camper and all when he was in highschool in 1967. when ever he had financial trouble he would sell it to his dad for 500 bucks and then buy it back when he was back on his feet. When I was in higschool (88-91) I bought it from him for 500 bucks and we began fixing up the years of dings and whatnots. Halfway through the project I was driving home from school and a lady doing her makeup in a VW broadsided me at around 50 mph. Of course there was nothing left of her car and I drove home from the accident but my old truck was pretty damaged on the passenger side.

Well I sold it to my grandpa for 500 bucks and it sat as a work truck at our cabin in Forest Lakes (above Payson AZ) for about 15 years where every cousin I have, learned to drive it. Finally after all these years the cabin was sold and squirrels nests, dents, dings and all I bought it back for 500 bucks and began the slow restoration about 5 years ago. It's been a great project to do with my sons and my dad as well. We are nearing the end of the project not a complete graound up restoration but all body parts were removed and the frame cleaned etc. This next week it is being painted the original Wimbeldon White and hopefully by the New Year will be almost 100% comeplete.

Well that's my trucks story and I appreciate your reading this and giving any advice that you have. I realy want to keep this all original as much as possible and have a great finished project. I'll post some photo's over the next couple of weeks. Thanks again for this forum and to those who have helped me already...

no time limits here,
just copy and paste from your photobucket, use the line for IMG code. put it in your post and the pic will show up .

welcome and just use the img box under your photo in pb and paste it in the body of your post like this.

Welcome from Oregon................Usually its green but today its white. This is a grewat site with about a million years worth of experience and knowledge. Good luck with the pictures. Most of the guys on this site are about as exited for pictures as they are talking about slicks.........Ross

Thank you very much for the welcomes and especilly azratrod for showing me this site... I'm on shift tomorrow so won't be able to do the pics but I promise I will get some pics up on Monday. I also have a few hard pics that I will scan sometime this week and post and I'm definitely up for a get together and to check out the other trucks.

I do need some input on the build from the experienced folks out there... My dad has always told me that half way through 1964 Ford updated the design of the F-series including such things as adjustable brakes etc. Does anyone know more of What Ford did that year/ Also does anyone have any pics of an original version of my truck to help me figure out what more I need? Especially with placement of trim and such.

Some more spec on the Truck...
Late 1964 F100 SWB Custom Cab, Camper Special, with a 292 V8, 4 speend on the floor (3 speed w/Granny) All original and matching numbers. Though My dad informed me that in 1970 he replaced the oil gauge with an OEM replacement.

Welcome, love the user name and cool story. Can't wait to see some pics. Awesome to know the whole history on the truck.

In '65 Ford went to the Twin-I beam front end instead of the solid mono-beam design. Also there's some differences in the cab, and I think the inner fenders. While '61-'66 is basically the same, there are several differences in the 61-64 and 65-66 trucks. More experienced folks will chime in.

You've got a Custom Cab, SWB, F-100 CAMPER SPECIAL?!

I haven't seen too many 1/2 ton, SWB, Camper Specials running around!

Does it still have the original rims / wheels on it?
If so, are they split-rim or solid?
