The 460 is going to get me in trouble
I got to drive it over the last couple days and when the go pedal is mashed the rear tires will light up,the only problem is the governor in the trans is stuck and wont down shift but the trans works great manually shifted. The motor and trans sat for a couple years in my utility trailer and the back of the trans sat uncovered but I did have a rag in the hole for the speedo cable and had a yoke in the end of the trans but it stuck anyway. The 460 and C-6 were both rebuilt by jasper and they did something to the motor as it runs alot better then the 460 thats in my 77 beater,I seen a number stamped on the motor somewhere and was most likely put on by jasper and would anyone know if I can give them the number and could they possibly have records on what was done to the motor. Have you checked the vacum on the tranny theres a deal about the size of a in line filter that can cause it not to shift. I cant remember what its called but the vacum line goes into it and it looks a little like a fat space ship. sorry for being so technal lol Oh ya on the heavy foot issue I just find a country foad with almost no traffic and burn them off to relieve the tension once in a while.

The trans is getting plenty of vacumn but it wont downshift all the way into low, usually when the modulator is bad it wont shift out of low so it looks like I will have to pull the tailshaft unless I can free up the governor. The trans sat over two winters with the tailshaft exposed and most of the fluid had been drained. Jeff

hmm, sounds like my C6 after I rebuilt it.... I assumed it was the kickdown switch in the valve body not being engaged right with the lever. I think it is though. Any idea what would make the governor get stuck straight out, not from sitting?
couple guys down the road from me in tucson built a 55 I think, with a Circle Track 460.... I guess it's HOT...... the first time they drove it to the Merle's show and shine they found themselves sideways or backward in the middle of a clean dry street.... haha I wish I had that kind of raw, terrifying power! It would probably kill me or land me in jail if I didnt watch it though!
