I like it. When I first got my uni, I tracked down your posts on the HAMB to find out how you lowered it. Nice truck.

Yeah, the bags and a DECENT system are in fact outlandishly expensive. My biggest thing making me feel that I want to use them is NOT the fact that they can change the stance at a whim, though cool....

The biggest reason I like the Bags is that I use Aggie a lot harder than most guys with dropped trucks probably do, and dont intend to stop that when I drop her. She already doesnt have much axle clearance, and crappy load capability (rear axle was on the stops with 1/2 bed of dirt)=Lame.

If I remove leaves from the springs, I lose ALL load capability. And if I flip the axles, I lose all clearance. I would have to notch the back, and cant do a lot of notch in front.

2600 pound rating on EACH BAG makes the load issue go away. It would leave me needing to watch it though, if I dont improve the axles.

It would also let me pick it up if I need to. Even add a new dimension to her work ability- In the case of the cab I took home, it was MURDER to lift it up there.... If I could drop her all the way down to load it, or shovel dirt, or whatever.... THAT would be cool!

yeah I understand. Before it was sitting on the bump stops (well when I bought it) so I cut half the bump stop away just to give a little rooom, but I tell you the ride is way better now. I need to get new shocks cause the ones pon there are shot but it still rides smoother. I have a bout 4 1/2 inches now so thats nice. As far as the front I left it alone other than the dropped axle. I was going to lower the front and decided not too but i think with monos it would be ok.

So here are a few of the pics of the c notch with some before and after shots.

Some of the lines are out due to the bad cab mounts. They were replaced as well.

That is a 50s style tail dragger. That stance is commonly seen on big mouth cars like 50 Mercs, Buiks, Fords,Oldsmoblies, ect...ect.. That stance complements and accentuates the front end. It looks good on a slick even though the tail draggers were starting to fade out by the early 60s. Since your truck is from the early 60s it is still in my opinion very era correct.
My Suggestions
Attention to the floor and cab mounts should clean up the door hood and cowl gaps.
The color is fiftyish bubble gum and poodle skirts, I like it.
I think stock 53-66 mirrors on the doors would be much better than peeps. The stock jet age mirrors are just the ticket. Peeps do better on fat fenders or pre-war IMHO.
Bright instead of painted door handles.
I like 42 caps but I think they're a tad to early for your slick. Think Early 60s Ford Flipper bar stainless, Cop cap Galaxie, Pointy dish Falcon, and the King of Ford caps the 1957 pointy center Ford block letter dish. The 57 Ford cap bridges the era much better than the 42 IMHO.
Check out the era pictures of the F-100XL in 1963. It is shown with a mixture of wheels and tires. Chrome fronts, painted rears with wide white cheater slicks, slotted rears with stock fronts would give it early 60s drag strip look. Mixing wheel stlyles front and rear was common for that era.
It is a very nice truck Have fun with it.

You oughta get a full set of shocks. I bet they're worse than you realize.

Some years back, I decided I was gonna buy some shocks. I brought em home and my dad was like " the hell do you need those for, the ones yoou got are fine" I resisted, and proceeded to install them.

As it turned out, the Right front was so shot that when I pulled it out, the was zero resistance keeping it shut, it slid all the way out and BROKE IN HALF..... It just popped off. And it let out the foulest stench Ive ever encountered in that truck.

the rest werent much good either.

I agree with Big UN, the spacey fairings and bullets on the stock door mirrors are sexy.

Just get Quality repros if you cant find good original. I think the Taiwankers that made my mirrors (METRIC???) built them with not quite enough head movement, so I cant get much use out of the passenger side mirror.

I do still use this truck as a truck but dont pull anything or things of that nature but if I need hay or moce furniture I still take it. The paint is old and cracked so I dont mind using it like that.

I dont have the pics but all of the cab mounts were replaced. The one pic on here is showing how it was before we fixed. All cab mounts, bed mounts, brakes (disc and drums) were re done. I believe where you see a little rise in the hood is due to the hood sprigs. I have new ones to put in.

I have the old mirrors but choose to go with the peeps since I just love the lines of a uni...these mirrors dont break the lines. Also I love the tail drag look on here since I havent seen any on a uni.

az - i like your truck. I was wondering about wide whites when i got these...i was up in the air for awhile about size of white walls. I know a guy here in atl that ahd a step side with some wide whites so i didnt want to look like his so that was my final decision on going with the skinnys.

I appreciate everyones compliments and suggestions. For the last couple of weeks I have had that "back in love" feeling with my truck. sorta like when I first bought it. Ive been updating things in the interior like new white knobs...little things. Im going to change all my screws so I dont have any painted heads. Little things liek that are cheap and in my opinion amke a big difference, and its not hard to do. hell I can do that with one beer in the other hand. well this is after I get this damn carb re-built...what a learning curve this has been....those paper gaskets will be the death of me....how do you get them off....im getting some gasket remover today. I hope to get some cool pics when its back on the road in front of cool buildings and what not...or in front of the unemployment line

hows that axle wrap, you must have to get on the gas really easy having all those springs out,, love the color, wheels but hate the stance put 2 springs back in and it would be perfect in my eyes but not mine to judge in sure ill get some comments on the 55 when i post in a month

yeah but with the straight axle front there would be ALOT of fab work and I like the straight axle. Keeps the truck old school. Other than a few mods here and there Im done with it. Also if anyone ever wanted to raise it back up they could. There is another hole which you can raise the shocks up and re -install so you can get a higher ride in case the next person wants a more staright level look. I dont want to bag it just for future reasons but it rides a heel of alot better now.

Yeah I know what you mean. The truck looks sweet like it is. Air ride can be a pain sometimes, I had a 1994 ford ranger on air, suicide doors, and all kinds of other stuff done. I traded it for my slick and I've never been happier. Keep up the nice work man it really has a kick ass look. Very Nostalgic!! I love it.
