2002 TAHO PLEASE HELP

Ok today my lady calls me stranded on the road, she says her taho wont stay running. It acts like it aint getting any gas and when it starts it shuts off quick. When I got there I started it and tried to give it some gas and it just shuts off. I just had the fuel injection system cleaned about 3000 miles ago, and as some of yall know I cant work on these new cars, im lost. I did try to pull the fuel filter hose that goes to the engine off to see if im getting fuel but i just got soaked with fuel cause i couldent get completely under the truck on the side of the highway. I DID NOT try to start it when i got the one side off to see if it was pumping fuel, nor did i get the filter off to blow through it to see if it was clogged, I figured it was ok cause it spilled out gas all over me.. WERE should I start and go from there...any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks Rob.

Calirob-the fuel pump is bad . Around 300 bucks for the part and the tank has to come out to change it.
Put a Fuel injection pressure tester on the schrader valve under the hood to confirm.

I tried to get rid of it after the 3rd tranny I just put in it, and just so yall know she aint driving my slick!!!

I have a 99 GMC and a 2003 Cavalier that at times will not idle, and if I keep my foot on the pedal I can keep it running. I have changed idle control valve and that did not help, the next step is to change the throttle position sensor. It happens only once in a while, and you know it, when I get it to the technician to check it out, it works.

If it is firing and dies, try giving it a little gas when starting and see if it will run.

as dcarr said the fuel pump is weak. somewhere around 97 gm went to a higher pressure system where it needs 40psi or more to fire the injector prior to that 11 psi was enough.

slight chance the filter could be partially plugged too. I have found if filter plugs the pumps do not last too long. Common with the GM fuel pumps.

Pick up a GM pump because most aftermarket will last a very short time.

There are two versions possible one you have to buy the entire assy which lists for around 500 and one you can buy pump only for under 200

You have a T.S.B. #04-06-04-o88c fuel pump connector replacement. It is true on aftermarket fuel pumps will not last. Try to get A.C. Delco. We bought a ration of bad Delphi pumps, they say they fixed the problem, I am gun shy, I had to tow 8 back to the shop @ my expense, finally a year later Delphi reimbursed me. Good luck!
