Finally out of the closet...

I just joined the forum. I sold two short wide bumpsides and bought the better looking 66 a couple of weeks ago. I sure like the body style better.

Previous ower had installed mid 70's discs, tilt column, 302 and C-6 tranny. Also a fairly decent looking tweed seat cover and door inserts. Lowered the rear a bit. He must have been a surfer, though. The dechrome job on the sides was so wavy you could surf

on it. Also it does not appear the guy knew how to torque a bolt of any size or how to install anything properly, at least not to my satisfactions. I bought the truck "right" so I can stand to redo some stuff (mainly everything).

It looks like this is going to be a fun truck, and hopefully I can learn alot from the rest of you about this thing. I have restored Mustangs for years but never really messed with old trucks. I sure do like the heavy duty sheet metal!

My plan is to duplicate the look of the blue and white Slick 60's icon truck. What color is that blue?

Well. hopefully I can help you out with some stuff as much as you can help me. I am very knowledgeable about brake systems and engines. I just need to learn the ins and outs of the 66 truck.

From Michigan. The truck at the top is owned by a members brother. I believe the color would be Bahama Blue.

Looks better in pics than in real life... The only rusted part on the truck was under the battery box. The core support rusted away - unfortunately including the rubber mount for the body! There is a classic car/truck wrecking yard five miles away that has alot of slick parts, including alot of unibody trucks. I will snag the core support and replace it when I redo the paint job. I will probably wind up putting a 2003 Crown Vic front end under this thing.

Welcome, I see you are near Dallas, come to Pate swap meet at end of April and you need to share your classic wrecking yard with us LOL!

From Brown Co. Indiana. Very nice truck you have there. You'll find these trucks easy to work on. Especially with the help from everyone here on this site. Plenty of info on front end swaps including Crown Vic. Haven't actually seen a completed Crown Vic conversion on here, with body-on and all, that I remember. The concern with CV is the width and wheel offset required which might make the slick look like a '90's Blazer in the front.
