The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

Change Intake manifold from 2v to 4v?

Post by 1966 M-100 »

Would a stock 4v manifold & carb from a 390 FE fit my 1966 352-2v?
Any thoughts or experience good or bad with this? Thx...Jim :)

the cast iron ones will test your weight lifting ability.
the edelbrock aluminum intake is the way to go if you are planning on buying one.

I have an iron one, no carb though. Lots cheaper than a new Edelbrock!

The factory cast iron paper weight intakes flow just as good as the aftermarket ones in almost all cases. The only advantage is weight. For truck purposes, I wouldn't spend the extra on aluminum. I would use an engine lift to R&I the intake though!

I just finished swapping a 2v for a 4v cast iron, but my engine is on the stand. It took two of us to set the thing straight. The hoist is definately a good option.

Word to the wise on the mounting this puppy. If you want a good seal on those cork gaskets be sure to shelack the front and rear gaskets and install these on the block, then let set untill dry before trying to install the intake. Installing this bruiser is best done by someone else in my opinion. A cherry picker is a must have in the truck. I won't do this a second time by hand. I now try to install an aluminum intake when possible. Used ones can occasionaly be had for 100$ . There was one in the Louisville are with carb for 120 a couple months ago on Craigslist.
