recently i had the urge to take a bunch of my leftover slick parts and use them to make a rat rod. just for fun. i have a late 80's ford crown vic frame and running gear that i plan to set it on. at a swap meet i picked up a set of 16inch steel rims that are off a nissan and share the same lug spacing as ford. (they look like a new style military rim. kinda cool) anyway i know they are the correct pattern but the hub diameter hole in the center of the rim is too small to allow the wheel to go on. i believe the rims have a 2.5in hole but the hub is 2.75
so here is my thought. . . i have access to a lathe and a large drill press (we're talking drilling 8in holes) at work. if i drill out the rims to make them fit, i will lose that curled lip around the center hole. am i losing all my strength by doing this? any suggestions on how to modify them to work? i only paid $5 for them so im not too scared to get after them
any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions are welcome. thanks guys.
Modifying steel rims. Any suggestions?
if you bored out the holes on the lathe, you could make them fit snug.
that shoul be plenty good.
