What do you think about aerostar IFS?

Post by Chico1961 »

I was walking through a buddys wrecking yard yesterday and he suggested that I maybe use an IFS out of and aerostar van. Anybody know anyone that has done this swap before? Comments or suggestions?

I have the front end under my truck right now. I still have to figure out motor issues and get a motor installed, so I haven't driven it, nor do I know about final ride height. The dakota seems to be a popular IFS to run, but I am building on a budget, and the aerostar IFS fits without buying a 700 dollar crossmember. You have to run a rear sump oil pan on whatever motor you are using in the truck, that is one thing I learned for sure. If not for that, I might have mine halfway cobbled up and driving by now. If you look back, I had a post with some pics of the front end under the truck. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

It is one of the easiest IFS setups I have instralled. Also look in Matt's (Iowa) album for photos of his Aerostar in a 65.
If you continue to buy imports, where will your children work?

:D Thanks guys. I will stay in touch! I'm not too picky, but I just can't stand the fact of having Dodge or for that matter any other than Ford. I like the sounds of reasonable with the Aerostar IFS.
