SUV...Slick Utility Vehicle (Was: Crewburban Panel)

Been seeing the occasional posts on here from GregD and JFC (and probably many others afflicted with the 'slickness'

) about what a slick panel or suburban might look like.

I got to thinking about the stalled progress on my crew cab project and how it needs cab corners and how the back panel is dented in pretty good. And then of course there is the bed I got which is rotted pretty good in the front floor and up the front panel as well.

Well, I pulled a photo off of ebay of a shortbed 64 crew and then conjured up some photohacking skills....what do ya think?

I shortened up the wheelbase a little and shortened the "bed" in front and behind the rear axle. The second pic has a slightly longer wheelbase than the first one.

I think it has potential.

Yeah, I might have taken a little bit much off the back. I wonder if putting that back upper half at a bit of an angle would help it look better/longer. Maybe it just looks short because there are more doors?

Same as above but added rear windows and chopped the roof above the windows a little.

Just a suggestion, but why not keep it the same proportions as the short bed crew you modeled it after? And yes, I thing angling the back a little would help.

Guess that answers the 4x4 question

Modeling it after the shortbed crew was a starting point but it looked a little long to me. This is purely just a shoot from the hip concept at this point.

Not sure what I did with the BIG slick...please explain.

I had pics on my old computer of a slick Bronco. It was a slick cab attached to the rear tub of a 78-79 Bronco. The bedsides were skinned with slick bedsides.

Use a crewcab and the back portion of a Bronco (Just like Centurian did in the 80's-90's) with slick bedsides.

The removable Bronco top would be very cool too.

I've always loved that little truck. Wish I could find out some current information on it. There are a couple other pics of it floating around somewhere.

I like the idea. My eyes tell me it needs a bit more infront of the wheels..

It looks like that crew was bulit on a standard longbed chassis.. Maybe just the extra 3" of a standard dent side longbed chassis is all you would need.

Just a thought that would provide a proper proportioned "BRONCOCREW" --On a crew get the measurement from the back of the rear door to the front axle.. On a bronco measure from the back of the door to the rear axle.. Add those measurements and you have length of chassis needed..

Another revision:

Moved the rear wheel back to match up the front and rear overhangs.

That last one just looks a little funny. I like the distance between the wheels, but the bed portion still needs to be a little longer IMHO. Thanks for listening to us and making the changes. Production begins when

Seems I'm having a small problem with the proportions at the back. I am trying to get a balanced look without going really long. My idea was to envision it like the centurian conversion broncos or a durango and not so much a true suburban.

Just for fun I took the last one for a ride a little further down the street...
