Western Nationals 2009...

Post by 64Ranger »

Had a great time at the Western Nationals in Anaheim, CA...saw many slicks and met up with Kevin Stone, his wife and Garbz from Arizona.

Was a great day...able to show my truck along with my son's 56 that he has just made road worthy (not a slick but still a Ford)... had about 204 entries, mostly 55 and 56 but I actually won an award for one of the top 15 trucks there...really pumped about that...can't wait until next year...

You'll have to throw up some pics of the show. You didn't happen to see a yellow '66 there that had a 428 cobra jet in it did you? I've been wondering how it did in the show.

Doug,
Glad to see you one an award for your truck :D . Beth and I had a great time at the show. We did manage to sneak in on the John Force Museum tour just by accident and it was worth seeing. I plan to have mine there next year. I will post the pics that I took as soon as I get them put on Photobucket.
Congrats,
Kevin

That truck is my Grandpa's, he's owned it since it was new. It's never had a hose turned on it to wash it and it's never spent a night outside. He finally decided to build it a couple years ago when he was 78 and he's still not done with it. You didn't happen to check out the one of a kind injection for it did you?

I hate blowing my own horn, but it was such a good day to be there with my family and a bonus to win something. It was funny, my son had made a test drive in his truck the night before and the passenger mirror fell off and broke. It was brand new and he was really bummed. We bought him a new one from the Truck Stop at the show and then my wife wins a pair of them in the raffle...what luck.

Thank you so much for all the accolades...Garbz did show up but not in his truck, it was still in pieces. He promised to bring it next year along with Kevin.

Yeah Roger, I don't like to have other people judge my stuff because it is the way I like it and I don't care...but it is nice to get confirmation that you have some taste.

Lee...was his a 66 dark yellow with chrome wheels and hub caps...if so, yes it was a beauty. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't take a Top 15 award also.

You guys are the best and I can't wait until Slick Stock IV. Still have more modifications to do so I need to get busy.

I will try and post some pictures up tonight...my camera ran out of batteries so I don't have that many.

Thanks again,
Doug

Doug, did you ever decide to run a tripower setup on your Y-block? That would be super cool. I remember you telling me you were thinking about it.

Yes, Mark, that is one of my projects for this summer. I have the set-up completed, but am having trouble with the linkage and runability. Will definitely have it for Slick Stock IV.

Thanks for the kind words deviant1. If your avatar is your truck, that is a nasty looking ride. What are you running in your truck?

Thanks again guys,

Thanks again,
Doug... That's the truck. I think those wheels have been on it since it was new. He's talked about replacing them, but I don't think he's found something he likes yet. The paint on the body is original if you can believe it. I need to call him and see how he did. I should have my truck down there next year, if I find time to paint it over the winter.
