When did 302/5.0 motor mounts change?

Well, this caught me completly by suprise. I wanted to install the 5.0 into my 66 today, went with my motor mounts over to the block, and suprise! There are no provisions in this 91 T-bird block to accept the older type motor mounts. How are people mounting these in the older vehicles? Is there a way to do it without re-engineering the whole thing, or am I stuck with an engine I can't use?

They never changed the 302 block as far as motor mounts, 2 vertical bolts about 7 inches apart. The mount you have has to be something other than a 302. Pics would help.

I fixed the link. The site crashed on me and I couldn't get back on it for about 30 minutes or so.

Those look different than the mounts on my 71, which has a 351W. the mounts on it look like, and I think can interchange with, the FE versions. I'll try to get some pics of it tomorrow so you can see what I'm talking about.
But I guess I'll hit NAPA up for a set like yours. What year truck did that come out of?

I have a set of mounts from a 91 Tbird and a bunch of 302/5.0 blocks I will take some pictures in the AM and post. I used the Tbird engine in my 86 Bronco with no problems. The Tbird mounts are different but bolt up to the block the same as all winsor blocks and the M blocks.

Mike, I'd appreciate that.
The t-bird had mounts that are sort of "D" shaped 1/8" thick metal plates, and have a hole in them. No way this would work with the engine stands in my truck. I'll try to post a photo tomorrow.
If I could get a mount that would fit the towers, that would solve my problems, I think and hope. An application or a part number would be very helpful. And size of bolts to attach the mounts to the body would help. I seem to have lost most of those.

So there's not a threaded bolt hole here? (see arrow)

If you look up the tbird mounts I think what he has are the hydraulic mounts. They are cylinder shaped with a stud on the top and bottom. There is a plate bolted to the block for the mount to attatch to. Sounds like you just need to remove the plates on the block and install some mounts for a truck. 1969 to 1985 year model F100/150/250 if my research is correct.

Yeah those t-bird mounts are special made and they are proud of them too....If I remember correctly they run about 80 bucks a piece...I had to buy 2 of them when I did the V6 to V8 swap in the other '93 I had.

Were you trying to use 352 mounts? No way they will work. Like others suggested you need 302 mounts for a 1969-1979 truck. You alos need the 302 truck frame stands, the 352 stands are about 1" higher and will cause problems with driveline angle and other issues.

I thought the FE and small block were interchangeable, but I guess not. The mounts on my 351W sure look similar to the FE.
Anyhow, thanks for setting me straight. I'll have to buy a new set from the parts store.

289, 302, 5.0, 351W, 351C all had same bolt provisions on th block. The rubber mount is different for TBird and Mustang and F-100.
