Well I figured I'd kick this off since I've been piling up the parts. I was going to stick with the 300 in this truck, but then I picked up a 97 7.3 and auto trans for 220 and a case of beer. I was going to build a rat rod with it, but I can get more use from this.

I plan to bag this truck, but keep it 8 lug.

I'm ditching the twin I beams, no matter what.

I'm kicking around the idea of putting the truck on a 94 GMC 2500 chassis I picked up since they are easier to bag and lay frame.

Another chassis I'm considering is an 05 2500 express, its coil overs and 4 wheel discs.

Another option is selling this truck and building a custom crew cab with suicide rear doors. if the market was better I would do this...

keep the frame and truck sounds like u cant get a bettter deal.. sounds sweet. does anybody ever think about lifting not lowering

that would be me.

i have an attachment to move snow, dont want to do it with my trucks bumper.
also with the road conditions here a lowered truck would last 1 day with bottom being scraped off.

I here ya guys. I'm not a big lowrider bling bling guy. I just want to build one low. I also have "Big Red" in the works...a 66 f350 crew cab on a 66 f600 chassis. I want to have a decent ride height so it rides normal, but lay it out when I'm showing it.

Well, I took off in another direction.

I'm basing the build on a 2002 GM truck frame. Using this frame will allow me to have suspension better suited to what I want to do. I'm going to keep it 8 lug, so I figured out how to use 98 2500 spindles on the 02 frame. I have to cut a cross member out of a f250 to mount the 7.3 and weld it in. I sourced a rear from an 05 E-250, 3.73s. I'd like to run wide rear wheels and tires. Really want stock style wheels, screw all that bling... I'm going to do a short stack too I want to try a miter cut that barely pokes out of the bed...

The cab is getting some changes too...
The whole underside of this thing is rotted out, pans, supports, mounts, all of it...
I'll use the GM floor and 6 mount points instead of the four factory ones. Will be using some donor truck fire wall parts too. I want to drop the floor pan in the rear some for more leg room too, the new frame will allow for that...

What's the track width on that chassis? Are u going to have to narrow the front at all to clear the fenders? I am using a 83 gmc 1 ton front clip and narrowing it because the track width is off by about 5 inches..

Well if you didn't know the front track width of those truck is around 68.5..which is way too wide to tuck a wheel underneath a slick..sorry sir

I've got a 65 f100 sitting on a 03 2500HD 4x4 frame with 35" tires... It almost fits, with the right offset it would fit. The 2500 is about 4" wider than the 1500. Good luck with your project sir...

Relax guys, the 350 crew is getting a super duty 4x4 chassis and at least 38s....If every truck was the same, what would be the point?

Ive thought about trying to raise my f350 about 2 or 3 inches not much just a little.the newer 1/2 tons pull up beside me and are higher than my 1 ton and that just just don't seem right.
