Butt Heads
I'm a golfer, when I'm not pretending to be a professional antique truck collector
and Monday I played in a pretty respectable tournament.. yes seniors alowed!
and as usual one of the other 3 players that make up a 4 some you have to play with was a
"Butt Head"
loud mouth, smart ass, pocket full of golf balls kind of guy so he could keep hitting another one until he could say "mines better"
and on and on,
asked him politly once not to stand behind the hole while I was trying to putt and it when down hill from there, just shook my head
Have yet to set someone straight or drop'm but this guy came close!
I had to go into my "happy Place" ahummmm! ahummmm!
Thank goodness for the million dollars worth of alcohol and great looking women they had on every hole
alright! yes I played better than any of them, just chuckled

There just has to be one or two in every crowd, and I always seem to be paired up with them.
Butt Head was probably one of those very important big shots, you know, what I call a three hundred dollar a week millionaire.
Probably takes a mulligan on every hole and claims a 14 handicap.
Difference between people like him and a gulf coast seagull is the seagull can actually make a deposit on a new Mercedes.
I'll tell you how I handle them next time we're in private. I can't write something like that here.... LOL

When I was in the Air Force I was working for a General at one time. He ask me to go out to the nine hole course and play a round with him. I tried telling him in a polite way that I did not play. He took it as me being modest and insisted we go play. If you have ever been in the military you know that you never say no to a General. The only problem was that I was telling him the truth, I did not play, oh yes, I had knocked a few balls around playing around but I was far from being a golfer. Any way we went and played. When you left the 9th hole there was a bar called the 10th puka (Hawaiian word meaning hole) He and I retreated to the bar for a drink. After a mai tai or two, he said to me you were telling the truth, you really don't play do you? I said no sir, I really don't. For some reason unknown to me he never ask me to play with him again. I will not go into it now, but as Paul Harvey use to say there is a rest of the story. The old General was quite the party animal and he always invited me to his parties even if I could not play golf.

Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner. A Republic is a well-armed sheep.
I hope I always stay crazy, because I know if I ever become sane, it will drive me crazy.

Many people enjoy the pastime, and good for them, but I don't and not likely to. At this time of my life, I don't need any more time wasters. I'm not a smoozier and really don't play well with others. This is a mistake, but I really prefer having a close circle of freinds of like mind, over trying to swing influence at the 10th hole. I used to play pool and was fairly good at it untill I hurt my back, but really never was good enough at it to make money, and that is where I would be with golf. Besides joining the country club set is not for me. Not rich and never will be now. Could have been but that is another story, or several.

side note:
if it wasn't for golfers and the passion, realtors would swoop in like vultures and turn those beautiful landscapes into condo's that someone would end up loosing because they couldn't make the mortgage and then the drug heads and KGB would move in.
stand on a tee box like Kananaska outside Banff Canada with the view of the Canadian Rockies in the fore ground and elk on the coarse early June and tell me this is not fantastic activity! makes me want to yodel!

Mike, that's hilarious.
I was a tennis player growing up. Golf was too slow for me but I've always admired it. I have too many other hobbies and don't want to go broke buying the clubs and fancy shoes.
I like watching it on tv and think the pros are pretty darn good to be consistent like they (mostly) are.
