Very impressive engine, nothing shabby about it. I am envious. I once had a 429 CJ engine that was bored to 4.44 with a 460 steel crank, six cylinder Ford industrial rods and custom piston by can't remember who now. If I remember correctly we got 528 cubes out of it. It was probably the best torquer I ever had. My daughter came by one afternoon wanting to borrow my truck to move and promply came back in less than about three minutes, She ask me what was wrong with my truck. I let her know that it was running perfectly when I last parked it. She said every time I come to a stop and take off the tires start spinning. She had a early Fox bodied Mustang with an inline six in it and just to get it going she had to just about had floor board it.

According to the calculator you need a 4.26 stroke to do that, they probably offest ground the crank. A 300 six has rods with 2.275 rod jounals, offset grind the 2.5" journals on a 460 crank would get you right in that neigborhood. Here's how one guy did it from Ford Muscle website.

"well guys I will let you all know how mine goes once it is done. I am in the process of putting together a 523 ci BBF this is how I am doing mine like it or not and yes I know there are many other ways.
Stock offset ground crank 4.225" stroke, DIVE-A block bored .080" to 4.44" bores, decked and line bored plus DSS girdle. Rods are 240 6 cyl 6.795" long with ARP wavelock bolts, custom Venolia pistons and Ross custom pins stock size for rods. This is a very lite weight assembly and the bob weight for balancing it was only 1145 grams so this is less than many small blocks and should make the crank and rods happy. The heads for now are DOVE-C ported and larger valves 2.19 intake and 1.76 exhaust the headers are 1 7/8 inch long tube Kaufman products for my mustang swap. SVO victor style intake and I hope to use a 950 HP or 1050 HP Holley carb. Milodin cheater gear drive and Crower solid cam 244 254 at .050 with 588 614 lift just about the same as 460 crate motor that Ford sells rated at 535 horse. Let me know what you all think. I have all the parts back from the machine shop as of last weekend and now I just need to get it assembled and put on the test stand to break it in then put it in the car so wish me luck."

Gary Ballamy at South Houston Racing Heads built the engine. I am sure there was a lot of machine work done on it. It was an engine he done for a guy and when he got finished with it the guys was going through a divorce and layed down on him, so Gary sold the engine to us.

Here are some pictures of the bored 429.

The heads fresh out of the head shop.

The valley and the crank case were all machined smooth, any signs of sand casting were removed for better oil flow.
