I have been searching old disc for pics, and found some saved posts from the original excite club...

Found this one and made me smile.. very early post..maybe the first?

Hello, if your like me you love these old trucks. They dont
get the respect they deserve in my opinion. But time will
prove us right and I feel they will become more sought after.
I personally learned to drive in a 66 f-100 when I was
fourteen. Thanks Dad! I was supposed to get that truck for my
first vehicle and I got side tracked and never did. Its still
around today though,and I have been told its mine for the
taking.
I probably should have asked for the old family truck before I
bought my 64. But I thought the 64 was a diamond in the rough,
(lots of chrome and goodies still intact)
so I bought the thing for $300 and began the odysee.

I hope just a couple guys find this sight and get inspired or
even just a get little more enthused.
I have made a good friend (64KID) that had drove his
unrestored 64 to a hot rod show. Surrounded by thousands of
overbuilt cars he talked with many a person besides me about
these great little trucks. And we have kept each other busy by
using each others enthusiasm for our own benefit.
Every one of these old trucks running down the road makes
their mid sixties chevy cousins look a little more rusty! ha

LOL that's a beaut!!
I learned to drive on a '66 Dodge with a straight axle and a slant six, I never grew any love for either of those things, or having pie plates around my headlights.

that is prehistoric for me

on that day the word slick had no relation to trucks in my mind, it was just a word describing slippery or cool things.

i was still a bump addict then, although i called them outies, 73-79 were innies.

how time has changed

innies and outies now refer to hubcaps

bumps and dents took the place of innies and outies as descriptions of trucks

and my yard is full of slicks

WOW< still remember the day we met at the Goodguys show in Des Moines. The start of a great freindship. Many of you guys have had the pleasure of meeting foodstick and hanging out with him on occasion. If you guys think the pics he is posting are good you should see his work first hand. I have looked at things he was working on and thought that part is toast but before long it looks like it what it is suposed to look like. Thanks for starting the best group on the net foodstick

in 99 i was new to the computer game and i had a 64 f100 short bed that i was trying to find info on. lmc was in the parts game then and was local so did all my parts sourcing through them, but i still couldn't find a dedicated "slick" community.
i don't thing there was a google then, but using hotbot and webcrawler i couldn't find anything.
i can't remember when i first stumbled on this site, but i know i owned my lightning and so it had to be around 01 or 02.

THat's pretty cool! Great little site here, interesting to see how things have changed.
In 99 I was 14 and racing motocross with my spare time, but I always thought rebuilding a vehicle would be fun.
Now that the time has come to build a 66 F100, this website is here for support and guidance.
Thanks so much for creating this slick 60s site.

By '99 I had given up my '40 and had lost all hope of ever having another truck to work on. I was right in to the X-files then and all my internet time was spent being an X-file geek, including untold hours in chatrooms. And, I didn't type any better than than I do now.

It wasn't until November 2002 that THAT all changed and I joined up here.

I didn't get in on the Excite group. Found it on yahoo groups around 2000 or 2001, then around 2002 had a fire in my 66 F350 and the cab was toast. Kinda lost intrest then, but some club member would always keep me informed when the site changed. Then I found a 61 F350 last year and here I am again, happy as a pig in a mud waller. Thanks Lance, for what you started.

That was one clunky monkey of a site. Hell the Internet was nothing to talk about either. But technology aside,
content is what made this site the site it has become.
