Should I put sound deadener on before abs firewall

Post by tomrooster »

Should I put sound deadener on before abs firewall. I ordered the firewall insulator but I don't know if sound deadener is needed or not. I guess it can't hurt can it. Thanks Tom

Sound deadner

I'd do it. The deadner usually reflects heat and sound. It is thin stuff and will not interfere with the ABS firewall cover. Besides you are already in there. IMHO!

Yes! I'm assuming the firewall pad is lined with jute... the the dynamat-like stuff will compliment it by absorbing different frequencies and adding to the insulation. I used B-Quiet Ultimate on my Mustang and have just bought more for my truck.

On another note... Where did you get the firewall pad and what do you think of it? I'll be needing one soon. They seem awful expensive compared to the one I bought for my 66 Mustang a while back.

I second B-Quiet Ultimate... Awesome stuff! I'm just about to pull my heater box and steering column so I can replace the firewall cover and I'll be covering the firewall with B-Quiet before putting everything back together.

I've heard the firewall covers are all made by the same company and I'm quite happy with the quality my new one seems to be.

Cheers,
Dion
