Rebuilding my 4x4

It is time to repaint the old girl. In the last couple of years I have Built the motor and went through the rest of the running gear. it is a 66 on a 78 F-150 4x4 running gear. I have pulled the bed off and have been straightening out the fender wells and floor. I have got a few places on the outside of the bed to touch up, then I will prime the bed and start tearing down the rest of the truck. It doesn't need to much body work, realy just a good sanding and paint. I am going to go back Springtime yellow and Wimbelton white.

The cab corners are still in good shape

Havn't posted anything in a while. i have the bed pretty much ready to paint except for cleaning and priming underneath. Got the truck in the shop and striped it to a bare cab. Had to repair some places in the floorboards. Also I am grinding out all the old filler and replaceing it with a filler caled Metal to Metal. I like it, it is not suposed to shrink or crack, and it works fairly easy. I have the outside of the cab, and doors done and primed. Now I am working on the fenders, hope to prime them tom. I keep putting off finishing the inside of the cab, because there is so much hand sanding. Here's some pics, I will try to post sooner next time.

that is coming along nicely!!! just out of curiosity?.... what kind of a gap is between your bed and cab with it sitting on a new chassis?? mine is almost 3 inches on my 66 on a 76 chassis... just wondering how someone else who has the newer chassis is....

Anthony, the gap on mine is about "1". It is more than stock, but not enough to realy notice.
Gas4blood, it is a 31 coupe. I choped it "2 1/2" and moved the firewall back. i am going to set it on a 32 frame and run a 3 deuce 427 ford and a 4 spd in it. Should be a fun toy.

It will be a while on the coupe. The most important thing is it's paid for, and in the dry.

Still slowly making progress. I have everything except for the inner fenders and tailgate primed now.

I also welded up the holes in my clutch linkage that had worn over the years. Then i welded the brakelight switch bracket from a 78 to my pedal, and made a striker for the switch to hit. I was tired of the pressure switch.

I found a set of mirrors today at a junkyard for $10.00

I have been running a factory set off a 67-72 on left
These are factory towing mirrors I think, off a 67-72. They stick out a little farther. even got a ninga turtle horn in the deal.

Got it picked up with the wrecker now washing the frame and bottom of the cab.

Mabey I can get some paint on it soon

Better hold onto those mirrors there getting harder to find. The ones on the left I what I use on my truck and I just replace the zinc nuts and bolts with stainless only cost me $16.00 and they look great.

Got the frame painted this morning. It feels good to be doing something to make it look better instead of tearing it apart.

This afternoon I painted the dash white, also painted the white trim in the door jambs. As hot as it is here the paint may be cured enough to tape it up and finish the inside of the cab tomorrow.

I just had to see how the yellow was going to look, so i painted the inside of the fenders. It is going to look good.

It looks white in the pics, but I promise it is springtime yellow.
