Flat towing

Post by Paul Merrell »

For you guys that have a 4 speed NP 435 make sure you pull the driveshaft. Because if you don't pull the driveshaft you will burn up third gear and third, fourth sycronizer. Don't ask me how I know!!!!

Well I now have a good 4 speed but had to buy a 65 F250. The good engine, trans, axle, drivers door, hood and a 67-72 bed. The bad cab, passenger door, front fenders, core support, tail gate.

I lost my C6 after towing it at speed for about 10 miles, with someone, not a tow truck driver, doing me a favo.r not only distance but speed...Tow truck drivers should know but I believe its anything over 45 can do damage. Best to disconect the auto trannies or tow from the rear.

I towed mine 20 miles one way turned truck around and towed it 20 miles back home. Messed up the sycro and needle bearing between input shaft and output shaft. I bought a junk truck pulled transmission and took the good parts out of it and put in mine. For all the 4x4 owners a NP435 is differtant than a NP435 in a two wheel drive. Also if anyone needs a case for a two wheel drive I have one along with a input shaft and output shaft
