Floor pan thickness

Post by unibody madness »

Done search, looked at sites that make patch panels here in the U.S.,
What thickness are the floor pans made out of ? Mounts are 14, I just need to weld in a 6x12 inch patch panel

Thanks Bill.
I am working on a die, to form the dimple for the bolt. I can form one in 14 gauge but will have to alter the shape to prevent tear out in 18

for the front floor mount? that same dimple can be found on the rear floor mount area...under the gas tank. maybe someone has the section you need on rusty cab they could cut out for you? the rear mounts are hardly ever rusted out.

Thanks guys, I have to replace a piece about 12x 8 and come up with a inner brace for the new body mount. I do not feel like spending a lot of money for a new floor pan, and for now I would like to try my hand at fabing the dimple . I am showing great progress and will try to form a dimple on some new oiled steel once I detail the punch I made today.

I used 16 ga on my torque box rebuild......it was the max. thickness my punch / flanging tool would handle...good luck.......Dave

Guys what do you think about someone producing replacement floor panels WITHOUT the ripples/stiffeners? Basically flat and panels with generous wider longer ends with the bends whereas you could just weld in? In other words the panels would NOT look the same but the thickness and dims the same?
