I have a pump from a 66 with the bendix power steering box.
Is this the same pump that was used with the 69 and later (saginaw type) steering sectors?
I have heard the 66-68 pumps do not have reliefe valves built in and will blow the seals in the steering sector.
Does anyone know for sure?
Thank You!
If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!
However, here, it refers specifically to a 1969 redesign of the PS pump, with NEW testing proceedures. One should assume I think that there were valid reasons why it was redesigned.... Likely not due to polution or some such reason...
I think its possible that the older pump will work. I suspect that the newer pumps are better. I did not like the thompson pumps due to the whine, and went with the early 80's pump. Brackets were available for my 240/300/4.9...
Older is not always better....
