Slick 60's

Question for those of you that have done the mustang under the bed tank install....i just bought a 22 gallon tank for a 70 mustang...what did you all do for tank venting? I have seen some marine fuel fill necks that have a vent built in, but not sure if that is what I need...and/or I have seen some guys weld in a 1/4" npt fitting and put in a rollover valve...what are the general thoughts on this? I would prefer to not weld on the tank but will if I have to...

I used a piece of steel 1/4" tubing installed into the filler neck, before I put fuel anywhere near it.
I then put on a piece of rubber hose and used another piece of steel line with a filter outside the frame rail on the passenger's side.

You can see what it looks like in the picture.

This might be a dumb question...what kind of filter and what's the purpose of the filter? Keep dirt and debris from getting into the tank?

Can you get a vented gas cap?

I'm gonna be running a fill cap in the bed floor...plan was to use a marine style fill...I have seen one that may be vented but not sure if its proper to prevent vapor lock

I am running a marine filler through the floor. And the filter is most definitely to keep anything from going up the line and blocking it (mud daubers.)

Before I filled it with gas for the first time, I threaded a 3/8 hose barb just above the fuel filler so I could hook up a hose to coil up.

Seems to work well.

I don't have a mustang tank but the only vent I have is in the gas cap and it has worked great.

I have the mustang tank with vented cap.Works great.

So you have a door in the bed floor that opens to access the filler tube that has a vented cap? Do you have pics of your setup?
