Carb Question

Post by 64F100StepSide »

I have a 64 223 manual. My 1 bbl carb is the 1101 Autolite. On the top front, there is a rod that is connected to an arm on the side of the bowl. I just bought a rebuilt carb from AutoZone and that rod has been removed and the hole in goes into is plugged. The picture on their website SHOWS the rod. Is that rod needed? This is NOT the automatic carb that shows rocker arms on both sides of the bowl. If needed, I need to take it back and ask for the exact carb that is shown. thanks. Craig

Craig
That is what they called the vent rod on the 1100 series Autolites, most re-manufacturers eliminated the rod and cap the vent hole.
I didn't get my carb from Autozone but I got the same set up on my 66 and have not had any issues at all.
